Choosing the right Quick station
Hand soldering or hot-air rework?
For classic soldering on through-hole and larger SMD parts, a soldering station with a controlled tip is enough. As soon as fine SMD parts, multi-pin chips or BGA are involved, a hot-air rework station is the better choice because it heats the part evenly and without contact.
Why preheat?
Modern boards conduct heat away strongly. A preheating plate or infrared heat plate brings the assembly to a base temperature, lowers thermal stress and makes removing and fitting large parts easier. For re-balling and BGA work, a reflow oven supports a controlled temperature profile.
Do not forget workplace safety
Soldering produces fumes. Fume extraction with multi-stage filtration and activated carbon keeps the workplace clean. Dissipative stations and, where needed, an ionizing blower ensure ESD safety.
- Soldering station for spot work
- Hot-air rework for SMD and BGA
- Preheating for large assemblies
- Extraction and ionization at the bench
Which equipment group fits?
| Criterion | Soldering station | Hot-air rework | Preheating system |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heat delivery | Tip on the part | Hot air, contactless | Broad base heat |
| Typical task | Soldering and touch-up | SMD and BGA rework | Preheating the board |
| Part size | Through-hole to mid SMD | Fine SMD to BGA | Whole assembly |
| ESD version | Available | Available | Available |
| Temperature control | Digital, per channel | Air flow and temperature | Digital, LCD |
| Complement | Fume extraction | Preheating recommended | Reflow oven |

Frequently asked questions about Quick
What products does Quick make?
Quick manufactures equipment for electronics production and repair: digital soldering stations, hot-air rework stations, preheating plates and reflow ovens, solder-fume extraction, ESD ionization and multi-axis soldering robots.
Are Quick stations ESD-safe?
Many Quick stations are dissipative (ESD) by design and are therefore suitable for handling electrostatically sensitive components in professional production.
When do I need a hot-air rework station instead of a soldering station?
A soldering station is suited to spot soldering work with the tip. As soon as fine SMD parts, multi-pin chips or BGA are removed or placed, a hot-air rework station is preferable because it heats the part evenly and without contact.
What is a preheating plate for?
A preheating plate brings the board to a base temperature. This reduces thermal stress, compensates for the heat conduction of large boards and makes removing and fitting large components easier.
