ESD protection
ESD clothing uses conductive and dissipative fabric structures to provide a controlled discharge path from the body to the EPA ground point in accordance with IEC 61340-5-1. Conductive yarn grids made from carbonised or metallic fibres are woven evenly into the base material, preventing uncontrolled discharge pulses that could damage sensitive components. The range extends from full-coverage overalls and work coats to T-shirts, polo shirts, and sweatshirts for daily use in EPA zones.
All garments must be used as part of a complete system combined with ESD footwear and grounding wrist straps to keep the total system resistance below 3.5 × 10⁷ Ω as required by IEC 61340. Cleanroom overalls such as the HABETEX climatic Pro and HABETEX Micronplus additionally meet low-particle-emission requirements for controlled environments.

| Garment type | Typical use | Key feature |
|---|---|---|
| Overall / work coat | SMT production, cleanroom, assembly | Full-body coverage, cleanroom variant with low particle emission |
| T-shirt / polo shirt | EPA zone, standalone or under coat | 150-210 g/m², cotton/conductive yarn blend, sizes XS-6XL |
| Sweatshirt / jacket | Cool production areas | Heavier fabric weight, dissipative yarn stripes |
| Gloves / finger cots | Component handling, fine assembly | Prevents fingerprints and contamination in addition to ESD protection |
| Hoods / overshoes | Cleanroom airlock, switchgear assembly | Complements overall for complete body coverage |
Typical applications: Electronics manufacturing and SMT placement (IPC-A-610, IEC 61340-5-1), semiconductor and wafer handling, cleanroom production (ISO classes 5-8), medical device assembly, repair and rework of ESD-sensitive assemblies, and quality control or goods-in inspection in EPA zones.
