Choosing the right Leister hot-air tool

Bench or handheld?

For stationary work on SMD and shrink tubing, the LABOR-S is fed by a separate blower such as the MINOR. For flexible, hand-guided electronics work, the HOTJET-S is the choice and is ESD safe.

Power and temperature

Compact tools operate up to around 600 °C and cover soldering and shrinking tasks. For higher airflow and more demanding jobs, more powerful tools such as the GHIBLI are available.

Pick the right nozzle

The nozzle shapes the heat pattern:

  • Round nozzles for spot heating
  • Wide-slot nozzles for area shrinking
  • Multi-outlet and reflector nozzles for even all-round heating of components

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Leister

What are Leister hot-air tools used for?

Leister hot-air tools provide non-contact heating with hot air, for example soldering and desoldering SMD components, shrinking heat-shrink tubing, and general process heat in laboratories, electronics manufacturing and industry.

Which tool is ESD safe?

The HOTJET-S hand tool is designed to be ESD safe, making it suitable for working on electrostatically sensitive components in electronics manufacturing.

What is the difference between the LABOR-S and the HOTJET-S?

The LABOR-S is a stationary laboratory unit supplied with air by a separate blower such as the MINOR. The HOTJET-S is a hand-guided hot-air tool with infinitely adjustable temperature for flexible work.

Which nozzle do I need?

The nozzle choice depends on the task: round nozzles heat a spot, wide-slot nozzles heat an area for shrinking, and multi-outlet or reflector nozzles enclose components for even heating. The nozzles are matched to the LABOR-S and HOTJET-S.

Are nozzles and reflectors available as spare parts?

Yes, round nozzles, wide-slot nozzles, spoon and sieve reflectors, and tool rests are available individually as accessories and spare parts and fit the corresponding Leister hot-air tools.
