Choosing the right Festo product

Match the drive type to the task

For simple point-to-point movements with fixed end positions, pneumatic drives such as semi-rotary drives or rotary indexing tables are robust and economical. Where free positioning, defined speed profiles or frequent format changes are required, electric servo motors with a matching motor controller are the better choice.

Coordinate the components correctly

When sizing your system, make sure the parts work together cleanly:

  • Size the drive to load, stroke and cycle time
  • Select the gripper by workpiece weight and contour
  • Ensure clean compressed air with suitable dryers and preparation
  • Match the control and controller to the chosen drive type
