Grendene GREF - ESD chairs and stools from Italy
Grendene S.r.l. manufactures office, laboratory and contract chairs in the Veneto region of Italy. GREF is its antistatic seating division: chairs and stools designed to IEC 61340-5-1 for use in electrostatic protected areas (EPA).
A GREF chair prevents the seated person from building up static charge while moving and dissipates it to the floor through conductive upholstery, conductive plastic parts and antistatic castors or glides. Our range covers the Comfort, Work and Ergonomy series plus round stools, each with a seat height of 420-550 mm or as a work stool with footring and 500-700 mm.

Choosing the right GREF chair
Seat height and working height
Models with a 135 mm gas spring cover a seat height of 420 to 550 mm and suit desks at sitting height. For higher workbenches, test and laboratory stations there are work stools with a 200 mm gas spring, a seat height of 500 to 700 mm and a height-adjustable footring.
Castors or glides
Self-braking twin-wheel castors suit workstations where people move around often. Glides keep the chair in place, for example at high workstations. For hard floors Grendene supplies antistatic rubber castors on request.
Upholstery
- Conductive fabric, grey: padded seat and backrest for long shifts.
- Integral foam in antistatic polyurethane, black: wipeable and water-repellent, suitable for cleanrooms, laboratories and areas with strict hygiene requirements.
Dissipation
An ESD chair can only dissipate as well as the floor underneath it. Place GREF chairs on a dissipative floor or a grounded ESD floor mat.

What is GREF?
GREF is the Grendene division for antistatic chairs and stools. The models are designed to IEC 61340-5-1 for electrostatic protected areas (EPA), for example in electronics production, laboratories or the pharmaceutical industry.
How does a GREF chair dissipate static charge?
The conductive upholstery or antistatic polyurethane takes up the charge of the seated person. It flows through conductive plastic parts, the base and the antistatic castors or glides to the floor. The floor itself must therefore be dissipative or fitted with a grounded ESD mat.
Fabric or polyurethane: what is the difference?
The grey fabric upholstery is padded and comfortable for long periods of sitting. Seat and backrest in black integral foam are wipeable and water-repellent and suit cleanrooms, laboratories and areas that are cleaned regularly.
Castors or glides?

Which seat height do I need?
For desks at normal sitting height, models with 420-550 mm fit. At higher workbenches, test and laboratory stations, work stools with 500-700 mm and a height-adjustable footring are the better choice.
