Leica Geosystems AG is based in Heerbrugg, Switzerland, belongs to the Hexagon group and develops measuring technology for construction work. Our shop carries two lines of the brand: DISTO laser distance meters for lengths, areas and volumes and Lino line and point lasers for plumbing, alignment and right angles, each with matching accessories and spare parts.
Depending on the model the instruments reach protection ratings from IP54 up to IP65. Several items ship as a complete set, for example DISTO packages with P2P adapter and tripod or Lino lasers with Li-ion battery, case and magnetic adapter, so the equipment for one task is complete. Choosing the right Leica Geosystems instrument
Red or green - the beam colour decides visibility
Lino line and point lasers come in two beam colours. A red beam is sufficient for interior work and subdued light and covers 25 m with the cross-line models. A green beam is far easier to see in daylight and over distance, reaches 35 m and pays off wherever you want to read the line or point directly on the structure.
Green models carry a G in the name, for example Lino L2G, Lino L2P5G or Lino L6G-1.
Check measuring range and protection rating
DISTO laser distance meters range from 40 m with the DISTO D1 for interior work up to 250 m with the DISTO X6. Models with Pointfinder, such as the DISTO D5 and DISTO X6, make it easier to aim at distant targets outdoors.
Depending on the design the instruments cover protection ratings from IP54 up to IP65. A lower rating is enough for dry interior work, for dusty sites and outdoor use choose an IP65 unit such as the DISTO X3 or DISTO X6.
Read directly or work with a laser receiver
DISTO units show the result on their display, Lino lasers are read directly on wall, floor and ceiling. In bright light or over larger distances a laser receiver detects the line even when it is hard to see with the naked eye: the RVL80 for red line lasers or the Lino RGR 200 for red and green laser lines, both up to 80 m.

Mounting and point to point measuring
Lino lasers are positioned with the TWIST 250 or TWIST 360 magnetic adapter, the UAL 130 wall mount, the CLR290 clamp rod up to 2.90 m or a tripod with 1/4 inch thread such as the TRI 75, TRI 105 or TRI 120.
For the DISTO X6 the DST 360-X tripod adapter adds point to point measuring and DXF capture, the DST 360 set does the same for the DISTO X3 and X4. Target plates such as the GZM26 or GZM30 help on non-reflective surfaces and floor markers.

Frequently asked questions about Leica Geosystems
Is Leica Geosystems the same company as Leica Microsystems or Leica Camera?
No. Leica Geosystems AG of Heerbrugg in Switzerland belongs to the Hexagon group and builds measuring technology for surveying and construction. Leica Microsystems and Leica Camera are separate companies based in Wetzlar, Germany. All three carry the Leica name for historical reasons but are independent businesses with completely different products. This brand page lists Leica Geosystems instruments only.
Should I choose a line laser with a red or a green beam?
A green beam is far more visible in daylight and over distance than a red one, which is why green units have the advantage in brightly lit rooms and on larger sites. A red laser is sufficient for interior work in subdued light. With the Lino lasers the green variants are marked with a G in the model name, for example Lino L2G, Lino L2P5G or Lino L6G-1, and reach 35 m instead of 25 m.
When do I need a laser receiver for a Lino line laser?
In bright light or over larger distances a laser line becomes hard to see with the naked eye. A laser receiver detects the line and shows its position even then. The Leica RVL80 works with red line lasers, the Lino RGR 200 with red and green laser lines, both up to 80 m. Matching receiver brackets and clamps hold the receiver on a pole or a profile.
What is the DST 360-X adapter used for with the DISTO X6?
The DST 360-X is a tripod adapter that extends the DISTO X6 for point to point measuring and DXF capture. It is available on its own, as a P2P extension set with TRI 120 tripod, case and target plate, and as part of the DISTO X6 P2P-Package. For the DISTO X3 and X4 the DST 360 adapter set with TRI 120 tripod and IP67 case fulfils the same task.
Which accessories are available for DISTO and Lino?
For the DISTO there are tripods such as the TRI 75, TRI 105 and TRI 120, the FTA360 and TA360 tripod adapters, target plates such as the GZM26, GZM30 and TPD 100 for non-reflective surfaces and floor markers, holsters, belt pouches and chargers. For the Lino there are the TWIST 250 and TWIST 360 magnetic adapters, the UAL 130 wall mount, the CLR290 clamp rod, red and green target plates, laser visibility glasses, Li-ion battery packs and spare parts such as keypads, battery covers and carrying cases.
