Tweezer tips TATC - ESD (antistatic)
Soldering and desoldering tips
The Metcal TATC series tweezer tip cartridges are precision-engineered for simultaneous two-sided component heating, enabling clean removal and placement of SMD components without mechanical stress. Each TATC tip integrates Metcal's SmartHeat technology, delivering a stable, self-regulating tip temperature controlled by the alloy composition - eliminating overshoots and ensuring thermal accuracy within ±1 °C of set point. Tip resistance characteristics are matched to Metcal MX and MFR-H1 systems, with a thermal recovery designed for lead-free solder alloys (Sn96.5Ag3Cu0.5) at reflow temperatures of 217-221 °C, compliant with IPC J-STD-001.
esd.equipment supplies the full available TATC tweezer tip series as authorised distributor, covering 4 current in-catalogue cartridge variants. Each tip is individually calibrated and ships in ESD-safe packaging per IEC 61340-5-1. Compatibility spans the Metcal MX-500 and MFR-H1 rework platforms, making the TATC series the direct-fit solution for high-reliability PCB rework in EPA-compliant workstations.
Typical application areas: SMD rework and component removal in electronics manufacturing (IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610), PCB assembly and repair in semiconductor back-end processes (SEMI S1/S2), high-reliability soldering in medical device production (ISO 13485), precision rework in automotive electronics (IATF 16949, VDA 6.3), and two-sided desoldering in aerospace MRO environments (AS9100).
