PACE - soldering, desoldering and rework equipment from the USA
Tip-heater cartridge handpieces, Sodr-X-Tractor and fume extraction for production and repair
PACE is a US manufacturer of soldering, desoldering and rework equipment based in Vass, North Carolina, and has been building tools for electronics assembly since 1958. The TD-100A and TD-200 irons use tip-heater cartridges, with heater and sensor sitting directly in the tip cartridge. The stations control temperature with SensaTemp, IntelliHeat or AccuDrive.
The Sodr-X-Tractor uses vacuum to pull solder out of plated through-holes, the MiniTweez thermal tweezers lift small SMD components in one move, and Arm-Evac captures solder fumes right at the joint. From the MBT360 multi-channel rework station to the matching replacement tip, a complete rework bench can be built from one system.
Made in USADesigned and built in Vass, North Carolina, specialised in soldering, desoldering and rework equipment since 1958.
Tip-heater cartridge technologyHeater and sensor sit in the tip cartridge, so the tip recovers instantly and is changed without tools.PACE best sellers

Choosing the right PACE system
Start with the handpiece
The handpiece decides which tips fit, and the control technology of the station decides which handpiece fits. SensaTemp handpieces have a black connector, IntelliHeat handpieces a blue one, and AccuDrive handpieces such as the TD-200 and MT-200 run on AccuDrive ports, for example on the MBT360 or the ADS200.
- TD-100A for IntelliHeat stations such as the MBT 301 and MBT 350, fine soldering under a magnifier or microscope.
- TD-200 for AccuDrive, up to 120 W per tip, for continuous soldering in production.
- PS-90 in a SensaTemp or IntelliHeat version, high thermal capacity for heavy THT assemblies.
- SX desoldering irons for clearing through-holes, on stations with a Snap-Vac pump such as the ST125 and MBT360.
Instant SetBack tool stands lower the temperature when the iron is put down and, according to the manufacturer, extend tip life up to six times.
Then the tip family
Every tip fits only the handpiece series it is built for. Shape and width then follow the solder joint.
- TD-100 and TD-100A: series 1124, 1126 Long-Life Diamond and 1128 Gold Series.
- TD-200: series 1130 with chisels, conical tips and MiniWave and Micro-Wave hoof tips.
- PS-90: quick-change tips 1121-03xx to 1121-05xx with a 3/16 in shank.
- SX desoldering irons: ThermoDrive 1121-09xx for SX-90 and SX-100, Endura 1121-06xx for SX-70 and SX-80.
- MiniTweez and ThermoPik: tweezer tips for MT-100 and MT-200 and package-specific removal tips for the TP-100.

Frequently asked questions about PACE
What is the difference between SensaTemp, IntelliHeat and AccuDrive?
They are the three control technologies of PACE stations. SensaTemp handpieces have a black connector, IntelliHeat handpieces a blue one. AccuDrive handpieces such as the TD-200 and MT-200 run on AccuDrive ports, for example on the ADS200 or the MBT360. Station and handpiece must belong to the same technology.
What is a tip-heater cartridge?
A tip cartridge with heater and sensor sitting directly behind the working surface. The tip therefore recovers quickly and is replaced as one unit. On the TD-200 the cartridges can be hot-swapped in about 2 seconds without switching off the station.
How does the Sodr-X-Tractor work?
The tube tip surrounds the lead, melts the solder in the through-hole, and the vacuum draws it into the solder collection chamber. The ST125 and MBT360 have a built-in Snap-Vac pump, so no compressed air connection is needed. With the VisiFilter only the filter element is replaced, the housing stays on the handpiece.
Which tips fit my handpiece?
Tips are built per handpiece series. The TD-100 and TD-100A take series 1124, 1126 and 1128, the TD-200 takes series 1130, and the PS-90 takes tips 1121-03xx to 1121-05xx. For the SX-90 and SX-100 there are ThermoDrive tips 1121-09xx, for the SX-70 and SX-80 Endura tips. The MiniTweez MT-100 uses 1124-10xx, the MT-200 uses 1130-10xx.
Is Arm-Evac fume extraction suitable for ESD workstations?
Yes. The 75 mm Flex Arm is specified by the manufacturer as ESD safe and does not build up charges at EPA workstations. Bench mount, hood, extraction tube and flow regulator fit directly onto this arm. Filters are chosen by Arm-Evac model, arms and hoses by the system diameter of 50 or 75 mm.
