Vorteile
- Curie-geregelte Temperatur ohne Elektronik: Temperaturwahl durch einfachen Spitzenwechsel
- 50 W Silver-Line-Heizkörper für schnelle Wärmenachlieferung
- Longlife-Lötspitzen in fünf Temperaturstufen (260, 310, 370, 425, 480 Grad Celsius)
- Nachrüstbare Direktabsaugung über Satz T0052512599
- Hart geerdetes 3-adriges Silikonkabel mit Stecker
Anwendungen
Herstellung in Deutschland.

Dear support team
Hello,
Can Soldering station temperature controlled P/N: 7008-0210-02 Model MBT 250
be used as alternate tools and instead of Weller Model (W-TCPS), for Aircraft electric workshop
What is the benefit of Weller's mechanical "Magnastat" switching system,
Thank you

Can the MBT 250 replace the Weller TCPS?
Technically yes. The MBT 250 is a temperature-controlled soldering and rework station. With a suitable handpiece it covers the typical TCPS work on wiring and connectors, and it adds adjustable temperature, faster heat recovery and additional handpieces such as thermal tweezers or desoldering tools.
In an aircraft electrical workshop the deciding factor is usually documentation, not technology. If the TCPS is specified in your maintenance documentation (AMM, CMM, SWPM or ESPM) or in your company's approved tool list, using an alternate tool requires an equivalency assessment, normally by your quality department under Part-145. We cannot issue that approval. Points to compare:
- Tip temperature and accuracy: can the station hold the temperature your process specifies, e.g. 315 °C or 370 °C?
- Tip-to-ground resistance and leakage voltage, relevant for ESD-sensitive avionics.
- Available tip geometries for your work.
- Calibration and verification: an adjustable station needs a documented temperature check, a Magnastat tip has a fixed temperature.
What is the benefit of the Magnastat system?
The TCPS has no electronic control. Each tip contains a ferromagnetic element that loses its magnetism at a defined temperature (Curie point). At that point a permanent magnet in the iron releases a mechanical switch and the heater turns off. As the tip cools, the element becomes magnetic again and the heater turns back on.
- Temperature is set by the tip, not by the user: a tip marked 7 always runs at about 370 °C. Nobody can set a wrong temperature by accident, which matters for repeatable processes in aviation.
- No electronics, no setpoint adjustment: nothing drifts, so there is little to recalibrate.
- Robust and long-lasting: few parts that can fail, proven in workshops for decades.
- Long track record: the TCP/TCPS family has been referenced in maintenance documentation for decades, which makes approval easier.
Downsides: a different tip is needed for each temperature, and the temperature swings slightly with each on/off cycle. Electronically controlled stations hold the temperature tighter and recover faster under heavy heat load.
Summary: if your documentation calls for fixed, tamper-proof tip temperatures, the TCPS is the simplest choice. If you need more flexibility and your quality department approves it as an alternate tool, the MBT 250 is a capable option.
