Anyone kitting out a whole department needs a colour that can still be reordered in four years and does not stand out in rotation. Cornflower blue is exactly that. The mid blue tone forgives the everyday dirt of a production hall without being so dark that swarf, solder splash or glass fibre dust on a sleeve goes unnoticed.

Technically the coat is a working tool. 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester, 4 % conductive yarn, 155 g/m². Short sleeves, concealed press-stud placket, three pockets. Surface resistance was determined at STFI as 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms, measured at 23 ±1 °C and 25 ±5 % relative humidity.

Twelve sizes from 3XS to 6XL are held in our own stock, including reorders of single garments.

Your benefits

  • A classic works colour: Cornflower blue pairs with trousers, shirts and tunics from the same line and stays orderable for years, so a department does not end up in two shades of blue.
  • Sensible compromise on dirt: Dark enough that handling marks and dust do not annoy after two days, light enough that swarf, solder splash or glass fibre on a sleeve still catches the eye.
  • 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms from STFI testing: The resistance sits in the dissipative range and was established to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 at STFI, not estimated in house.
  • Three pockets where they help: Left chest pocket for a test pen, two side pockets with slanted openings for tweezers and drivers that do not slide out when the wearer sits down.
  • No exposed metal at the front: The press studs sit behind the placket, so leaning over an assembly brings no metal into contact with components, housing edges or painted surfaces.
  • Embroidery reads well on blue: Light embroidery threads and company logos stand out on a cornflower ground. Printable up to 160 °C, with a sample print recommended in advance.
  • Twelve sizes from stock: Available from 3XS to 6XL, so new starters and floaters can be equipped from current stock instead of waiting for a production run.

Material and fabric

The blend of 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester and 4 % conductive yarn is built for continuous service. Compact cotton yarn supplies the pleasant handle and the low lint behaviour that counts near open assemblies. The polyester share carries dimensional stability and service life through commercial laundering. At 155 g/m² the coat still works over a sweatshirt without becoming a burden in summer.

  • 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester, 4 % conductive yarn
  • Fabric weight 155 g/m²
  • Compact cotton yarn, low lint and dimensionally stable
  • Conductive yarn based on silver yarn from our own production
  • Less static build-up and odour than all-synthetic garments

Cornflower blue as a works colour

Cornflower blue has stood for work clothing in German plants for decades. In practice that means three things. The tone forgives the daily dirt of a shop floor, it separates clearly from white visitor or cleanroom garments, and it can serve as an identifying colour for one department when other areas run black or white. For mixed teams from production and maintenance it is an unspectacular base colour that nobody argues about.

Construction in detail

The notched lapel collar is made to lie flat when the coat is worn open, and the sweat guard sits underneath it at the neck. It absorbs what would otherwise ruin the collar from the inside and extends the time the coat stays in rotation. The front closes with a concealed press-stud placket. There is a patch chest pocket on the left, two side pockets with slanted openings and the ESD logo on the right side pocket.

Lasting dissipation and wash resistance

Around 100 volts is already enough to damage sensitive semiconductor structures for good, and every step in miniaturisation lowers that threshold further. Personal dissipation therefore belongs alongside flooring, footwear, work surfaces and ionisation among the pillars of an EPA. This coat contributes a measured surface resistance of 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms.

The conductive yarn is part of the weave, not a coating. High-grade silver yarn is processed in an in-house method, and conductivity is retained after repeated washing and wearing. The coat is suitable for industrial laundry, which makes fleet operation calculable over a full year.

Fit and size range

Twelve sizes are available: 3XS, 2XS, XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL and 6XL. A complete shift can therefore be dressed from a single order. The cut works as an overgarment, leaving air for a sweatshirt or tunic underneath. The full measurement chart is available as a PDF in the Downloads tab of this page.

Applications

  • Placement, assembly and module production on two-shift operation
  • Maintenance and workshop staff with access to the EPA
  • Test and repair stations in electronics servicing
  • Order picking in semiconductor and component stores
  • Training areas and onboarding of new employees

Care and service life

The coat is suitable for industrial laundry and therefore intended for central reprocessing of entire fleets. Equal parts cotton and polyester keep measurements and drape stable through the cycles, and the conductive yarn keeps its conductivity across many washes. The sewn-in care label carries the binding instructions.

Finishing and custom versions

Light embroidery threads and logos look particularly clean on a cornflower ground. The coat is suitable for embroidery and printable up to 160 °C, with a sample print recommended first. Company logos, contrast press studs or a contrast pocket are produced on request, as are special colours and special finishes. Ask us for a quotation.

Standards and testing

Dissipation and surface resistance were tested successfully to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 by the STFI test institute. The measured value is 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms at 23 ±1 °C and 25 ±5 % relative humidity. No testing or certification to further ESD standards has been carried out, and none is claimed here.
