Replacement Blades
Knives, Scissors and Saws
Replacement blades are the wear parts of cutting and stripping tools: snap off blades for utility knives, shaped blades and blade cassettes for stripping pliers, replacement jaws for crimping and modular pliers, and replacement tips for tweezers. Changing a blade in time keeps the cutting force low and stops a blunt edge from nicking strands or crushing the insulation; on stripping pliers the shaped blade defines the clamping width and therefore the permitted cross section. For the EPA there are conductive replacement tips and blades for tools to IEC 61340-5-1. Selection is governed by the tool type, the manufacturer number of the base tool and the pack size. The range covers 103 articles, with Knipex, Bernstein, Weidmüller, Lindström and Franz Mensch as the leading brands.
| Wear part | Version | Pack size | Fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Snap off blade 9 mm | stainless special steel | pack of 10 | utility knives with 9 mm blade strip |
| Snap off blade 18 mm | special steel | pack of 10 | utility knives and ESD knives, 18 mm |
| Replacement blade, stripping pliers | hardened shaped blade | pair or pack of 6 | automatic stripping and crimping pliers |
| Blade cassette | colour coded per cross section | single | stripping systems of the CST series |
| ESD replacement tip CARBOFIB | conductive, 1,2-2,0 mm wide | pair | ESD tweezers with exchangeable tips |
| Replacement jaw set | felt, cork, leather and plastic, 50 mm | 4 to 5 pairs | pliers with dual lock or adhesive mount |
Typical applications: planned blade changes in cable assembly before strands start to be nicked; maintenance of stripping systems in control cabinet building; retrofitting blade cassettes when the conductor cross section changes; replacing worn tips on ESD tweezers in EPA operation; tool crib and equipment management with stock held in packs of 10; refurbishing crimping and modular pliers instead of buying new ones.
