ESD and standards
In an ESD lab the chair conducts charges from the person through the upholstery, mechanism and conductive castors or glides into the floor. Testing follows DIN EN 61340-5-1: the resistance from the seat surface to the ground point must be below 1 x 1010 ohms. A conductive floor is a prerequisite. For the ergonomics of work chairs, DIN EN 1335 applies in general.
