T-shirts

Clothing

ESD T-shirts are lightweight protective garments worn directly against the skin in electrostatic protected areas (EPA). They allow controlled dissipation of charges generated on the body and on outer clothing - even when no work coat is worn over them. The fabric combines cotton with a woven conductive carbon/conductive-yarn grid that drains static charges dissipatively and without sparking. The range includes round-neck and V-neck models in men's and women's cuts, with short sleeves, in sizes from XS to 6XL and in several EPA-suitable colours. This makes it easy to assemble the right ESD base garment for any workstation - from the SMT line to incoming goods inspection.

Conductive blended fabric - cotton with woven carbon/conductive yarn for durable, dissipative discharge of static build-up.
EN 61340-5-1 / IEC 61340-5-1 - as part of the personal ESD protection system together with footwear and wrist strap.
Defined resistance - the point-to-point resistance of the fabric lies in the dissipative range and remains effective over the garment's life.
Sizes XS to 6XL - continuous size range in men's and women's cuts for a precise fit across whole teams.
Industrial-wash suitable - dimensionally stable and durable; ESD properties are retained with proper care.
Several colours - for department-based colour coding in EPA areas, including black, white and blue.

The woven conductive yarn forms a continuous conductive network that picks up electrostatic charges and dissipates them in a controlled way, instead of storing them like conventional textiles. This avoids the feared sudden discharge (ESD event) that can damage sensitive semiconductors and assemblies. ESD T-shirts work as part of an overall system to EN 61340-5-1 / IEC 61340-5-1: only in combination with dissipative footwear, a conductive floor and - at seated workstations - a wrist strap does a continuous grounding path for the wearer arise. In particular, the T-shirt prevents private clothing worn under the work coat from acting as a charge source. The measurement methods of the IEC 61340 series are decisive for conformity assessment.

Round-neck T-shirts offer a classic fit and are particularly suitable for wearing under a smock or work coat. V-neck variants are more comfortable at higher ambient temperatures and are preferred where the shirt is worn as visible outerwear without a coat. Women's cuts are ergonomically tailored and offer the same protection class as men's cuts. For the right size: the ESD T-shirt should fit comfortably without being tight, so that skin contact - and therefore charge dissipation - is ensured throughout the working day. For mixed teams, keeping the full size range XS-6XL in stock per colour is recommended.

In many companies, ESD T-shirts are procured in uniform colours to visually identify roles, departments or visitor status. A consistent colour scheme makes it easier to check whether people are wearing the correct protective clothing in the EPA and supports audits to EN 61340-5-1. The colours offered are chosen so that they suit operational coding policies; the ESD function is identical across all colour variants and independent of the dyeing of the fabric.

ESD T-shirts are designed for regular laundering and retain their dissipative properties over many wash cycles with proper care. Observe the manufacturer's care instructions: wash at the specified temperature, use no fabric softener (which can form an insulating film on the fibre) and no antistatic additives that would change the defined resistance behaviour. Industrial laundry providers specialising in ESD textiles often document effectiveness through periodic resistance measurements - useful for validated processes in electronics manufacturing and cleanroom environments.

Typical applications: EPA areas in electronics manufacturing and SMT placement, component handling and assembly of ESD-sensitive modules, repair and rework stations, quality inspection and incoming goods control, laboratory and test areas, as well as cleanroom anterooms where lightweight protective clothing without full body coverage is sufficient. As a base garment, ESD T-shirts combine with work coats, work trousers and dissipative footwear to form a complete ESD personal outfit.
