Non-sparking hammers

Non-sparking tools

Non-sparking hammers made from copper-beryllium (CuBe) are mandatory in Ex zones where a steel striking tool would present an ignition risk. Bahco divides the range into sledge hammers (NSB500) from 1 to 4 kg and heavy sledges (NSB502) from 450 g up to 12 kg, each available with either a wooden handle or an impact- and fracture-resistant fibreglass handle (suffix -FB). All heads are copper-beryllium, reliably spark-free and non-magnetic.

The range is complemented by engineer's hammers (NSB504) with fibreglass handle in weights from 100 g to 1.5 kg for more precise work. The broad weight coverage addresses applications from driving small wedges accurately to breaking heavy-duty joints in process industries.

Non-sparking CuBe head - no ignition spark in explosive atmospheres (ATEX)
Weight range 100 g - 12 kg - sledge NSB500, heavy sledge NSB502, engineer's NSB504
Fibreglass handle (suffix -FB) - impact and fracture resistant; wooden handle alternatives available
🛡 Non-magnetic - suitable for MRI environments and magnetically sensitive installations

Typical applications: Assembly and maintenance in ATEX zones 1/2 and 21/22, process industries (refinery, chemicals, petrochemicals), mining, explosives and ammunition manufacturing, and offshore installations. Engineer's hammers (NSB504) are additionally used for driving wedges, bolts and pins in spark-sensitive areas.
