Lifting equipment and jacks cover raising and safely supporting vehicles, gearboxes and machinery in the workshop. Selection follows three figures: load capacity in tonnes, lifting range in millimetres and the minimum saddle height, that is the lowest point at which the jack still fits under the lifting point. A jack lifts, it does not hold: the raised load belongs on axle stands before anyone works underneath. The range runs from the hydraulic transmission jack at 500 kg to the bottle jack at 20 t.
