ESD accessories: keeping the chair dissipative

On an ESD chair every part belongs to the grounding path: charges flow from the person through cushion, armrests, mechanism, gas spring and base to conductive castors or glides and then through the dissipative floor. DIN EN 61340-5-1 requires a resistance from seat surface to ground point below 1 x 10¹⁰ ohms. A standard cushion or a non-conductive castor can interrupt this path.

ESD part for ESD chair - at Bimos recognisable by the E in the item number, for example 9588E or 9875E.

The floor is a prerequisite - without a dissipative floor or floor mat even an ESD chair remains insulated.

Will my ESD chair stay dissipative after replacing parts?: Only with ESD parts. 32 of the 62 items are ESD versions. After the retrofit, the resistance from seat surface to ground point must be below 1 x 10¹⁰ ohms to DIN EN 61340-5-1.
Which gas spring do I need for a higher seat?: Throna GAS300-C, 300 mm long, covers a seat height of 500 to 700 mm. For higher seats, Throna offers a longer ESD gas spring.
