When do I need a footrest?

When the seat height is set to the work surface and the feet no longer rest flat on the floor. The footrest makes up the difference, adjustable models reach up to 410 mm.

Freestanding or mounted on the workstation?

Freestanding models such as those from Treston or Bedrunka+Hirth can be used at any workplace. Mounted solutions from Bosch Rexroth (10 mm slot) or Reeco (Premium crossbar) do not slide, the Bosch Rexroth footrests are 900 mm wide.

Do I need an ESD footrest in the EPA?

Yes, otherwise the person is isolated from the floor. 19 of the 29 models are available in an ESD version.

How much do footrests cost?

Freestanding footrests from Treston or Bedrunka+Hirth can be used at any workplace. The Bosch Rexroth footrests attach to profiles with a 10 mm slot, Reeco mounts on the crossbar of the workstation.

The adjustable models cover heights from 65 to 410 mm. A tilting footplate, 8 to 25 degrees on Bimos models, keeps the ankle in a relaxed position.

Footrests in the EPA

Anyone standing on a footrest has no contact with the dissipative floor. The charge must then drain through the footrest: from the person through the footwear into the conductive platform and from there via the floor or a grounding cable to the ground point. Chairs are tested to DIN EN 61340-5-1 with a resistance from seat surface to ground point below 1 x 10¹⁰ ohms, and the footrest is part of the workstation check.

The floor is a prerequisite - freestanding ESD footrests only dissipate via a conductive floor or floor mat.

Grounding cable - models such as Warmbier 1740.FS connect directly to the ground point.
