Gripping, Flat, Round and Needle Nose Pliers

Pliers and Cutting Tools

Gripping pliers hold, bend and shape workpieces, while flat, round and needle nose pliers are designed for fine assembly and electronics work. Design and testing follow DIN ISO 5745; the selection depends on jaw shape, jaw length, straight or 40° bent head position and the handle insulation. ESD versions to IEC 61340-5-1 keep the resistance to ground between 10⁶ and 10⁹ Ω, VDE models to IEC 60900 are individually tested at 10 000 V and approved up to 1000 V AC. The range covers 545 items from Knipex, Bahco, Piergiacomi, Wiha, Lindström and Bernstein.

Jaw shapes - flat, round, half round and needle nose, with or without side cutting edge
Head position straight or bent 40° - access to hidden terminals and connections
Overall lengths 120 to 250 mm - from the ESD precision plier to the locking plier
Locking pliers with 8 to 40 mm capacity - clamping round stock without repositioning
ESD and VDE variants - IEC 61340-5-1 at 10⁶ to 10⁹ Ω, IEC 60900 up to 1000 V AC

Jaw shapeContourTypical use
Flat nose pliersflat, parallel jawsholding and bending flat stock and solder tags
Round nose pliersround, tapered jawseyelets and wire loops
Snipe nose pliers with cutterhalf round jaws, straight or bent 40°, with cutting edgegripping and cutting in restricted space
Needle nose pliersnarrow, long headcomponents on densely populated boards
Locking pliersadjustable jaws, round capacity 8 to 40 mmclamping workpieces

Typical applications: placing and positioning components on densely populated boards; bending wire leads and eyelets; holding nuts and small parts during device assembly; terminal and control cabinet work with VDE pliers; laboratory and precision mechanics with ESD needle nose pliers; clamping round stock with locking pliers.
