TORX and TORX Plus Screwdrivers
Screwdrivers and Bits
TORX screwdrivers engage the screw head with a six-lobe profile to ISO 10664, so the force acts almost perpendicular to the flanks and no cam-out occurs. TORX Plus uses a flatter profile with a larger contact area and transmits more torque at the same nominal size; its sizes are designated with IP. The range covers T4 to T40, TORX Plus 6IP to 20IP and tamper resistant versions with a bore for screws carrying a pin in the profile centre. The category holds 149 items, the leading brands are Wiha, Bahco and Bernstein.
| Profile | Sizes in the range | Feature |
|---|---|---|
| TORX | T4 to T40 | six-lobe profile to ISO 10664 |
| TORX Plus | 6IP to 20IP | flatter flanks, higher torque |
| TORX tamper resistant | T10H to T40H | bore for the pin in the screw head |
| TORX with retaining element | T6 to T15 | spring ring holds the screw on the blade |
| TORX ESD | T6 to T20 | dissipative handle to IEC 61340-5-1 |
Typical applications: Housing and cover fastenings on equipment with TORX heads; mounting of heat sinks and brackets on printed circuit boards; maintenance on machines and plant with security screws; repair of consumer electronics using fine sizes from T4; assembly work inside the EPA with a dissipative handle; work in positions where the screw has to be held on the blade.
