Cable cutters and cable shears sever copper and aluminium conductors without crushing or deforming them. The half round, drawing edges enclose the cable, and larger cross sections are cut through a ratchet mechanism. Ratings run from 15 mm diameter or 50 mm² at 165 mm overall length up to 32 mm diameter or 240 mm² on ratchet cable shears. VDE versions to IEC 60900 are individually tested at 10 000 V and approved up to 1000 V AC, while ESD cable shears to IEC 61340-5-1 are dissipative and suited to the EPA.
