Empty cases, inlays and spare parts extend existing tool sets and allow a company to build its own. Empty cases are selected by the number of slot-in pockets, commonly 28 to 90 in an X-ABS hard shell, optionally with wheels and a four-stage telescopic handle. ESD empty cases and dissipative folding pouches are mandatory as soon as the set is kept inside the EPA: IEC 61340-5-1 requires the container to be dissipative as well, not only the tools. Contour-cut or CNC milled foam inserts show a missing piece at once, and this kind of tool inventory check is a requirement in aerospace and medical technology.
