Field strength
Measuring technology
Electrostatic field meters measure electric field strength and surface potential on materials, components, and EPA zones without contact. The range extends from handheld instruments (EP-EFM 822/823 with accessory set ZBS) to stationary Charge Plate Monitors (CPM 8374 Set). The EP-EFM 822 and 823 series can be combined with walk-test sets (VMS 822/823) for EPA zone walk-through inspections. The EFM 8115 features a USB interface for PC-based data analysis; the SMC IZH10 is a compact portable instrument with a digital display for quick checks at ioniser installations.
| Instrument | Type | Feature |
|---|---|---|
| EP-EFM 822 | Handheld | With accessory set ZBS or CPS set |
| EP-EFM 823 | Handheld, extended | Walk test BGT, CPS set, ZBS |
| EFM 8120 | Handheld | Voltage probe BNC, walk-test set |
| EFM 8115 | Handheld | USB interface for PC |
| CPM 8374 Set | Charge Plate Monitor | Stationary, ioniser qualification |
| FMX 004 | Field meter | Compact handheld |
| SMC IZH10 | Portable instrument | Charge measurement, ioniser systems |
Typical applications: Qualification and maintenance of ionisers (balance and decay time testing via Charge Plate Monitor), EPA zone walk-through inspections and audits (EP-EFM 822/823 with VMS set), testing of packaging materials and surfaces for electrostatic charge, and monitoring of cleanrooms and ESD-sensitive production areas.
