Which protection rating does a luminaire inside a machine need?

With cutting fluid, chips and splash water, IP67 and IP69K are the safe choice, and IP69K also withstands high pressure and steam jet cleaning. For dry housings and control cabinets, IP54 is enough.

Why do machine luminaires mostly run on 24 V?

Low voltage can be supplied and switched straight from the machine control, without a separate mains cable. For mains operation there are versions for 100-240 V, 120-277 V and 100-305 V, plus wide range inputs from 12-40 V.

Surface mounted or recessed?

Surface mounted luminaires are fitted onto housing, profile or panelling and suit retrofits. Recessed luminaires sit flush in the panelling. Beyond that there are luminaires on an articulated arm, with a magnetic holder and with a table clamp.

Which light colour is usual in machines?

5700 K is the standard case, with 5000 K and 4000 K also available. The cool light raises contrast on metal surfaces and makes visual inspection easier while the process runs.

Can the luminaires be dimmed?

A large part of the range is dimmable, and further luminaires can be switched contact-free with an HF switch. That way you match brightness to the machining step and to glare.
