Floor coverings
Flooring
Sheet flooring produces the continuous ESD surface: fully bonded, welded at the seams and earthed through a copper strip grid. Compared with tiles there is no joint grid, and the surface can be wet cleaned and decontaminated. Alongside the nora rubber coverings and the vinyl and rubber rolls from the ESD-Protect and Warmbier programmes, this category lists the conductive and dissipative Mipolam ranges from Gerflor, each 2 mm thick in a 200 cm x 20 m roll.
Mipolam EL5Conductive, 104 to 106 Ω, Evercare, six colours
Mipolam EL7Dissipative, 106 to 108 Ω, ten colours
Mipolam Robust EL7Dissipative, 3300 g/m², also as a 608 x 608 mm tile
Mipolam Biocontrol EL5Conductive and cleanroom qualified to ISO 14644, GMP suitable
Mipolam Biocontrol ESD+Body voltage below 35 V, for class 0 devices
| Range | ESD rating | Body voltage | Colours | Focus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mipolam EL5 | conductive, 104 to 106 Ω | < 2 kV | 6 | operating theatres, electronics manufacturing, ATEX related areas |
| Mipolam EL7 | dissipative, 106 to 108 Ω | < 2 kV | 10 | data centres, telecommunications, laboratories |
| Mipolam Robust EL7 | dissipative, 106 to 108 Ω | < 2 kV | 6 | raised access floors, heavy duty, also as a tile |
| Mipolam Biocontrol EL5 | conductive, 104 to 106 Ω | < 100 V | 4 | cleanroom ISO 5, GMP, H₂O₂ decontamination |
| Mipolam Biocontrol ESD+ | conductive, Rg ≤ 106 Ω | < 35 V | 1 | class 0 devices, highest ESD requirement |
All five ranges are 2 mm thick, come as a 200 cm x 20 m roll and are rated use class 34 and 43 to EN ISO 10874.
Typical applications: electronics manufacturing with a continuous EPA, cleanrooms and GMP areas, data centres and control rooms, operating theatres and clinical function rooms, laboratories with wet cleaning, and production areas where joints are unwanted for hygiene reasons.
Where adhesive-free and removable installation is needed, interlocking floor tiles are the alternative; for a tile grid with bonded installation see ESD glue-down tiles. Matching conductive adhesives and earthing tapes are listed separately.
