Packaging bag
Bags
ESD packaging bags protect components and assemblies from electrostatic discharge during transport and storage, covering a broad range of protection classes. The range includes pink dissipative bubble bags (Safeguard, 76 x 127 mm to 400 x 700 mm, wall thicknesses 0.05 and 0.09 mm), silver shielding bags (Warmbier HIGHSHIELD, E < 10 nJoule, e.g. 203 x 406 mm), gold IDP-STAT bags (Warmbier 3010.150.IDP, 100 x 150 x 0.07 mm), Permastat gusseted bags (for storage containers up to 1250 x 850 mm) and standard-format dissipative bags from the Safeguard range (127 x 76 mm to 305 x 203 mm).
Pink dissipative bags dissipate static charges but provide no electromagnetic shielding. Silver shielding bags (Faraday cage) add protection against electromagnetic fields and are intended for particularly sensitive ICs and assemblies.
| Type | Protection class | Standard / identifier |
|---|---|---|
| Pink dissipative (Safeguard) | Dissipative | IEC 61340-5-1, surface 10⁶-10¹¹ Ω |
| Pink dissipative bubble bag | Dissipative + shock protection | IEC 61340-5-1 |
| Silver shielding HIGHSHIELD | Shielding (Faraday) | E < 10 nJoule, IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033 |
| IDP-STAT gold | Dissipative + antistatic | 0.07 mm, gold |
| Permastat gusseted bag | Dissipative, large format | 0.15 mm, pink, for containers |
Typical applications: Shipping and storage of ICs, transistors and sensitive assemblies (shielding bags for MSL-classified components), outgoing goods and packaging stations in electronics manufacturing, rework and repair with individual component protection bags, and long-term storage in ESD storage containers with gusseted bags.
