Scissors and shears for electronics and industry differ from household scissors in blade geometry, material and handle design. Cable and braided screen are cut with a serrated blade so the material cannot slip out of the cut; for aramid and Kevlar fibres there are special blades and ceramic blades that are neither conductive nor spark forming. Inside an EPA, scissors with dissipative handles to DIN EN 61340-5-1 are used, with resistances in the range 10⁶ to 10⁹ Ω. Selection follows blade length, overall length from 80 to 230 mm, blade shape (straight, offset, rounded tip) and material. The range covers 42 articles, with Knipex, C.K, Bernstein, Piergiacomi and Wiha as the leading brands.

Typical applications: cutting stranded wire and ribbon cable to length at the EPA workstation; trimming braided screen and strain relief yarn in cable assembly; cutting aramid fibres in fibre optic work; cutting insulating film, adhesive tape and gaskets to size; cutting plastic and rubber profiles in control cabinet building; maintenance and service cases with a stainless steel general purpose pair.
