In an EPA the seat is part of the grounding path: charges flow from the person through the cover, gas spring and base to conductive castors or glides and into the floor. Testing follows DIN EN 61340-5-1, the resistance from seat surface to ground point must be below 1 x 1010 ohms.
Sit-stand stools are mainly used in industry (45 models), as well as at standing workstations in offices (15), in the EPA (12) and in laboratories (12). Typical places are machine operation, packing and picking stations, assembly lines with standing tables and test stations.

- A stool is a full seat. A sit-stand stool only supports the pelvis in a semi-standing posture while the legs stay loaded.
