ESD clothing

ESD equipment

ESD clothing uses conductive and dissipative fabric structures to provide a controlled discharge path from the body to the EPA ground point in accordance with IEC 61340-5-1. Conductive yarn grids made from carbonised or metallic fibres are woven evenly into the base material, preventing uncontrolled discharge pulses that could damage sensitive components. The range extends from full-coverage overalls and work coats to T-shirts, polo shirts, and sweatshirts for daily use in EPA zones.

All garments must be used as part of a complete system combined with ESD footwear and grounding wrist straps to keep the total system resistance below 3.5 × 10⁷ Ω as required by IEC 61340. Cleanroom overalls such as the HABETEX climatic Pro and HABETEX Micronplus additionally meet low-particle-emission requirements for controlled environments.

IEC/EN 61340-5-1 - mandatory requirement for all ESD garments used in EPA zones
Surface resistance 10⁵-10¹¹ Ω - dissipative discharge, no hard pulse to components
Conductive yarn integration - carbonised or metallic fibres distributed evenly throughout the fabric
System resistance < 3.5 × 10⁷ Ω - achieved only in combination with ESD footwear and wrist strap
Wash stability - ESD properties maintained over manufacturer-specified wash cycles
