When a site clothes its EPA uniformly, the colour decision rarely goes to an extreme. Cornflower blue has been the works colour for decades: dark enough not to display every trace of use, light enough not to sink into the shade under hall lighting. That makes the coat easy to roll out across departments, from placement to the dispatch buffer.
It is worn over private clothing. That is the real argument for a coat rather than a shirt, because the pullover or fleece underneath no longer charges freely. It goes on in seconds and closes with a concealed press stud placket that shows no metal at the front.
The fabric weighs 155 gsm and consists of 48 percent cotton, 48 percent polyester and 4 percent conductive yarn. STFI measured the surface resistance at 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms.
Your benefits
- Cornflower blue as works colour: The mid tone shows dust, oil and handprints less clearly than white and looks less worn than black. For a site looking for one colour across all departments, that is the pragmatic middle.
- 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms per DIN EN 61340-5-1: STFI measured at 23 degrees Celsius and 25 percent relative humidity. Charging is most critical at that dryness, and that is exactly where the value stays in the dissipative range.
- Colour coding across the plant: Alongside white for cleanroom ante-areas and black for dirty benches, cornflower blue marks the permanent team. Visitors and contractors are then told apart by the coat alone.
- Adjustable press stud cuffs: Cuff width is changed at the sleeve end. Tight at a test bench, wide in the store, so nobody rolls up the sleeves and gives up the protection.
- Sweat guard and lapel collar: The neck strip catches moisture before it travels into the collar seam. The notched lapel collar stays flat and does not distort after many wash cycles.
- Three pockets that follow the work: Chest pocket on the left for a test record and a pen, two slanted side pockets for gloves or a hand scanner. The ESD logo sits on the right side pocket.
- Reactive dyed, colour stable: The blue survives many industrial wash cycles instead of bleaching out in patches. Repeat orders therefore still match the existing stock.
Fabric and weight
48 percent cotton, 48 percent polyester and 4 percent conductive yarn produce a fabric of 155 gsm. The cotton is spun as compact yarn, which binds protruding fibre ends into the thread before twisting. The thread is smoother, the cloth barely lints, and far fewer fibres end up on assemblies and carrier trays at placement benches.
Compact cotton is less prone to static charging and to odour than pure synthetics, which counts for a garment worn eight hours a day. The polyester content keeps the coat in shape and shortens drying time after laundering, so a smaller pool of coats covers the same number of wearers.
- 48% cotton as lint-free compact yarn
- 48% polyester for dimensional stability and fast drying
- 4% conductive yarn in the weave
- 155 gsm fabric weight
- Reactive dyeing for a colour stable blue
Construction in detail
A concealed press stud placket runs down the front. It opens faster than a button placket and still shows no metal on the outside, which makes a difference at benches with painted housings and open assemblies. The notched lapel collar lies flat and can be worn open.
A sweat guard is worked into the neck. The pockets sit at working height, patched on the chest at the left and slanted at the sides for access while seated. The ESD logo on the right side pocket makes it visible during every walkthrough that this is dissipative clothing.
- Notched lapel collar
- Concealed press stud placket
- Sweat guard at the neck
- Patch chest pocket on the left
- Two side pockets with slanted openings
- Long sleeves with adjustable press studs
Lasting dissipation and wash resistance
The measured surface resistance lies between 10⁵ and 10⁷ ohms, determined by STFI in a test climate of 23 degrees Celsius plus minus 1 degree and 25 percent plus minus 5 percent relative humidity. That combination of warmth and dry air is the case in which clothing charges most strongly, which makes it the most meaningful test condition.
The conductive yarn is worked into the weave rather than applied on top, so it cannot wash away. High grade silver yarn is used, processed in a method developed specifically for this fabric. The coat is suitable for industrial laundering, and conductivity is retained across many wash and wear cycles.
Fit and size range
Available in twelve sizes: 3XS, 2XS, XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL and 6XL. The cut is that of an overgarment, wide enough for a shirt or pullover underneath and for work with raised arms. All twelve sizes run in the same execution, from the smallest cut to the largest.
The size chart with all measurements is available as a PDF in the Downloads tab of this product page. Since we ship smaller quantities directly from stock, individual sizes are easy to reorder when staff change or new people join a shift.
Manufacture and supply
Fabric, pattern implementation, sampling, sewing and packing all run as one unbroken chain. That closed process is why repeat deliveries match the first order in shade and fit. Sales, warehousing and delivery are in our own hands, and smaller quantities go out directly from stock to the buyer. Embroidery and printing are carried out on request.

Applications
- Placement and assembly lines as standard clothing for the permanent team
- Test and measurement benches with changing operators
- Goods-in, picking and dispatch buffer inside the EPA
- Maintenance and internal service engineering
- Training and onboarding workstations
- Sites that dress every department in a single colour
Care and service life
The coat is released for industrial laundering and keeps its shape. Compact yarn and polyester content stop the shoulders and front edge from going slack after many cycles. Reactive dyeing keeps the cornflower blue even, so older and newer coats still match within the stock. Binding care instructions are printed on the label inside the garment.
Finishing and custom versions
Company logo, department or name can be embroidered or printed, with print up to 160 degrees Celsius and a sample print recommended beforehand. Conductive rib cuffs on the sleeves, extra press studs or pockets and contrast versions are implemented on request, as are colours outside the catalogue. Ask us for a quotation.
Standards and testing
Testing for dissipation and surface resistance to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 was passed successfully, carried out by the STFI test institute. The measured values were 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms at 23 (+/- 1) degrees Celsius and 25 (+/- 5) percent relative humidity. No testing or certification to further ESD standards has taken place so far, those only form the normative context of an EPA.
