Anyone running an EPA has to check worksurfaces, mats and floors at regular intervals and keep a record. The Vermason 225718 kit gives a reading within seconds across 1 x 10³ to 1 x 10¹² ohms, right at the workstation and without a mains connection.

Applications

Periodic verification of mats, worksurfaces, shelving, carts and floor coverings in electronics manufacturing, and incoming inspection of ESD materials. For a representative reading, place the checker at least 5 cm from any edge and 8 cm from the nearest groundable point. The unit is not intended for resistance-to-ground (Rg) measurements.

Standards

The kit supports compliance verification under IEC 61340-5-1. ESD TR20.20 recommends checking worksurfaces, carts and shelving at least quarterly. If a reading falls outside the limits, clean the surface with a silicone-free ESD cleaner and test again.
