SCS Ground Pro Meter for ground impedance, voltage and EMI on ground - Desco CTM051

A poorly grounded soldering iron or noise voltage on the protective earth is enough to damage sensitive components through EOS. That is why the SCS Ground Pro Meter CTM051 does more than check the impedance of a ground point in four ranges up to 1999 ohms. It also measures voltage and EMI on the same ground.

• Ground impedance at the tool: four ranges from 0.000 to 1999 ohms with a 600 Hz test signal, in line with ANSI/ESD S20.20 requirements.
• Find EOS sources: AC voltage 0.001 to 250 V RMS and DC voltage 0.001 to 350 V on ground, suitable for the millivolt limit of IPC-A-610.
• Make EMI visible: 9 kHz to 450 MHz, 10 mV to 5 V peak, shown as average or peak value.
• Auto-zero for test leads: factors out lead impedance, which matters most in the lowest range.
• Programmable alarm: audible signal as soon as impedance drops below the operator's threshold.

Applications

Audits of ESD workstations, ground checks on soldering stations, pick-and-place machines and hand tools, and troubleshooting tool lockups, erratic behaviour or parametric errors caused by a noisy ground. Not for use on three-phase equipment.

Standards

Measures grounding in accordance with ANSI/ESD S6.1 and ANSI/ESD S20.20 and supports verification under IEC 61340-5-1. The manufacturer recommends annual calibration.
