Wescorp ESD heel grounder, two-layer rubber, non-marking, 1 megohm resistor - Desco 249265

Where people are on the move, in stores, around large machinery or at the wave solder line, long ground cords are impractical or even hazardous. The Wescorp 249265 heel grounder grounds the wearer through the shoe and the ESD floor instead. Its two-layer rubber drains charge through the black conductive layer and the 1 megohm safety resistor, giving an Rg of 1 x 10⁶ to below 1 x 10⁷ ohms.

Applications

For operators who change workstations in production, kitting, warehousing and quality control, always together with a grounded ESD floor. Place the grounding tab inside the shoe under the foot and trim it to length if needed. Wear one on each foot, as that is the only way to keep contact with the floor while walking. Clean the rubber with a silicone-free ESD cleaner or isopropyl alcohol.

Standards

Meets the footwear requirements of IEC 61340-5-1, tested per IEC 61340-4-3. For the person, footwear and flooring system the standard requires a total resistance below 1 x 10⁹ ohms and body voltage below 100 V. ESD SP9.2 recommends a function check before each use, daily or at shift change, and again before re-entering the EPA.
