ESD non-marking heel grounder, 3-layer rubber, hook and loop, 1 megohm resistor - Desco 17252

When operators move around the EPA, a wrist strap gets in the way. The 17252 heel grounder grounds the person through the ESD floor without leaving black streaks: the rubber has no exposed carbon, and tab-to-floor resistance is 1 x 10⁶ to < 1 x 10⁸ ohms.

Applications

Personnel grounding in assembly, kitting, wave soldering and quality control, wherever operators need to stay mobile. Requires an ESD floor with a surface resistance below 1 x 10¹⁰ ohms. Wear one heel grounder on each foot so the ground path holds while walking. Tuck the tab inside the shoe under the sole of the foot and trim if needed.

Standards

Suitable as the footwear component of a flooring and footwear grounding system: below 3.5 x 10⁷ ohms per ESD STM97.1 and below 100 V body voltage per ESD STM97.2. Check function with a footwear tester before each shift. Clean the rubber with a silicone-free ESD cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and wash the tab gently when needed.
