Economy cup style heel grounder with 1 megohm resistor and two-layer rubber sole - Desco HGC1M-EC

When many people have to be grounded through the floor, cost per pair matters. The HGC1M-EC economy heel grounder grounds the wearer through the heel of the shoe and the dissipative floor. The sole exterior measures below 1 x 10⁶ ohms, and a 1 megohm series resistor protects the wearer.

Applications

Personnel grounding through footwear and dissipative flooring in the EPA, especially for visitors, floating staff and areas with high consumption. Wear one grounder on each shoe with the ribbon inside the shoe or under the sock. Not recommended for use on equipment with operating voltages above 250 VAC. The grounder is for electrostatic control and gives no protection against electric shock.

Standards

Total resistance is determined per ESD SP9.2 and ESD TR53. Heel grounders should be checked before each use, for example at a wrist strap and footwear test station.
