Signal transmitter for active utility locating that applies a carrier signal of up to 1 watt to buried services. Six direct connection frequencies from 512 Hz to 131 kHz plus an induction mode at 33 kHz and 8 kHz make de-energised or weakly radiating lines visible to the DD300 Connect. IP67 rated with 15 hours of operating time.

Passive locating only finds services that radiate a field of their own. Everything else, meaning de-energised cables, gas and water pipes or empty ducts, has to be energised on purpose. The DA300 applies a carrier signal of up to 1 watt to the line and offers six direct connection frequencies from 512 Hz to 131 kHz, so there is a suitable frequency for every type of utility and every soil condition.

Benefits

  • Power output of up to 1 watt, which keeps the signal usable over long routes and in poorly conducting ground.
  • Six direct connection frequencies from 512 Hz through 8 kHz, 33 kHz and 83 kHz up to 131 kHz. Low frequencies travel further, high ones couple more easily onto poorly conducting services.
  • 83 kHz bridges the gap between 33 kHz and 131 kHz and covers a band that would otherwise need two separate transmitters.
  • Induction mode at 33 kHz and 8 kHz works without galvanic contact whenever no connection point is accessible.
  • IP67 rating and a temperature range from -20 °C to +50 °C keep the transmitter working on an exposed site.
  • 15 hours of operating time at power level 2 from 4 x LR20 alkaline cells, with an optional Li-Ion pack as an alternative.

Applications

Active locating of de-energised cables ahead of excavation, tracing gas, water and district heating pipes, route surveys for network operators, feeding a signal in at house connections and distribution cabinets, and work in corridors with many parallel services where a clear frequency signature is needed.

Compatibility and scope of delivery

The DA300 is the matching transmitter for the Leica DD300 Connect locator and covers all six of its transmitter frequencies. It runs in passive and active mode with accessories such as a signal clamp, a property plug connector for domestic supplies and crocodile clamps for direct connection.

  • Leica DA300 signal transmitter, 1 piece
  • 4 x LR20 alkaline batteries
  • User manual
