Proportional valves
Valves
Festo proportional valves regulate pressure or flow continuously in proportion to the electrical input signal. The core range consists of proportional pressure regulators in the MPPE-3 series, available in port sizes G 1/8, G 1/4 and G 1/2 with pressure ranges 0-1 bar, 0-2.5 bar, 0-6 bar and 0-10 bar. Control input is 4-20 mA or 0-10 V (420-B and 010-B codes respectively). The VPPM series (VPPM-6L, VPPM-6F, VPPM-6TA) provides compact proportional pressure regulators for valve island integration with G 1/8 port. 136 articles cover the main control tasks in pneumatic automation.
| Series | Port | Pressure range | Control input |
|---|---|---|---|
| MPPE-3-1/8 | G 1/8 | 0-1, 0-6, 0-10 bar | 4-20 mA or 0-10 V |
| MPPE-3-1/4 | G 1/4 | 0-1, 0-2.5, 0-6, 0-10 bar | 4-20 mA or 0-10 V |
| MPPE-3-1/2 | G 1/2 | 0-1, 0-2.5, 0-6, 0-10 bar | 4-20 mA or 0-10 V |
| VPPM-6L | G 1/8 (valve island) | up to 6 bar | A4P (4-20 mA) or V1P (0-10 V) |
| VPPM-6F | Flange (valve island) | up to 2 or 10 bar | A4N or V1N |
| VPPM-6TA | Flange | up to 2 bar | Analogue control |
The choice between MPPE and VPPM depends on the installation context. MPPE regulators are screwed individually into the compressed air line; VPPM regulators are designed to integrate into Festo valve islands (MS6, MPA). The pressure range on the MPPE is encoded by the second numeric field in the part number (1 = 0-1 bar, 2.5 = 0-2.5 bar, 6 = 0-6 bar, 10 = 0-10 bar). Input code -010-B indicates 0-10 V; -420-B indicates 4-20 mA. Calibration and characteristic curve trimming are performed via the integrated potentiometer.
Typical applications: Pressure control on grippers with force-proportional regulation, proportional force control on test rigs and welding systems, pneumatic positioning with pressure-proportional control loops, flow control in painting and coating lines, and integration into PLC-controlled automation via 4-20 mA interface.
