How to choose Soldering, desoldering and rework stations
What matters when choosing: properties, comparison and typical applications.
Selection criteria
| Criterion | Options | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Task | Soldering, through-hole desoldering, combined rework | ST35 for soldering, ST125 for desoldering, MBT360 for soldering, desoldering and SMD removal at one workplace. |
| Control technology | SensaTemp, AccuDrive | The MBT360 has two AccuDrive ports and one SensaTemp port, ST35 and ST125 work with SensaTemp. |
| Scope of supply | With handpieces or power unit only | The power unit makes sense if suitable PACE handpieces are already in use. |
| Vacuum | Built-in Snap-Vac pump or no pump | MBT360 and ST125 supply the SX-100 desoldering iron without external compressed air. |
| Temperature range | AccuDrive 177-454 °C, SensaTemp 37-482 °C | Values of the MBT360, temperature stability 1.1 °C. |
Applications
FAQ
- How many handpieces can the MBT360 run?
- Up to three at once: two AccuDrive handpieces such as TD-200 and MT-200, plus one SensaTemp handpiece such as SX-100 or PS-90.
- Do I need compressed air for the desoldering iron?
- No. MBT360 and ST125 have a built-in Snap-Vac pump that supplies the SX-100 Sodr-X-Tractor with vacuum directly.
- Which handpieces fit the ST35?
- SensaTemp handpieces with a black connector, for example the PS-90 general purpose iron or the TT-65 ThermoTweez thermal tweezers.
- How accurate is the temperature control?
- Temperature accuracy meets ANSI J-STD-001 and tip-to-ground resistance is below 2 ohms. The MBT360 holds the temperature stable to 1.1 °C.
