Where personnel gates use metal detection, or where every cold bridge in the shoe is felt in winter, a metal free safety shoe is the simpler choice. The C 8315 XP achieves this with two components that contain no metal: the C-TEC toe cap of high tech polymer and the XP penetration barrier of aramid fabric. Protection is unchanged, because both are tested against the same EN ISO 20345 figures of 200 joules of impact energy and 15 kN of compression.

What the shoe delivers in an EPA

• Charge dissipation to DIN EN 61340-5-1. For its ESD marked models Atlas guarantees a resistance below 100 megohms, measured person to shoe to floor. The plain antistatic requirement of EN ISO 20345 allows anything between 0.1 and 1000 megohms. For handling assemblies the tighter figure is what counts.
• Built completely without metal. The C-TEC polymer cap and the XP penetration barrier contain no metal. That saves weight, moves the centre of gravity towards the middle of the foot and avoids the cold bridges a steel cap creates in winter. At a metal detector the shoe raises no alarm.
• Safety class S3 in plain words. Closed seat region, antistatic construction, energy absorbing heel area and a protective toe cap, plus a penetration resistant sole, a water resistant upper and a cleated outsole.
• Toe protection to EN ISO 20345:2012. The anatomically shaped C-TEC cap is tested for at least 200 joules of impact energy and 15 kN of compression. The carbon fibre reinforced bumper absorbs the abrasion that shows up first at the toe during kneeling work.
• Penetration protection from aramid fabric. The XP technology covers the sole surface out to the edge, weighs a fraction of a steel insert and allows the natural torsion of the foot. Nails and strapping remnants in the warehouse stay a matter of damaged goods rather than a lost time injury.
• Waterproof full grain leather and MPU INNOFLEX sole. Around 2 mm of full grain cowhide keeps feet dry for hours and the aktiv-X functional lining regulates moisture actively. The MPU midsole with a CLOUDZONE in the heel absorbs impact forces, slip resistance SRC. The footbed may be swapped for an orthopaedic insole under DGUV 112-191.
