Bei allen SMS-Systemen mit Kugelgewindetrieb kann ein Motor mit Flansch und Kupplung angebaut werden. Der Flansch dient zur Befestigung des Motors am SMS-System und als geschlossenes Gehäuse für die Kupplung. Mit der Kupplung wird das Antriebsmoment des Motors verspannungsfrei auf die Antriebswelle des SMS-Systems übertragen. Standardkupplungen kompensieren die Wärmeausdehnung des Systems.
