Earth Bonding Plug EBP, Schuko, 3 x 10 mm Stud, 1 Megohm - Desco 231135

An earth bonding point (EBP) plug turns any Schuko socket into the ground point of an ESD workstation. It connects to the protective earth conductor only, with insulating plastic pins in place of live and neutral. The front offers three 10 mm studs, each tied to earth through its own 1 megohm resistor, so wrist strap, bench mat and floor mat share one potential.

Applications

Common ground point for ESD workstations in countries with Schuko sockets such as Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain. Use for ESD control only, never for earthing electrical appliances. One plug should serve no more than two workstations.

Standards

The 1 megohm resistor limits current to below 0.5 mA at mains voltages up to 240 V AC (reference ANSI/ESD S1.1). The common ground point concept follows IEC 61340-5-1. To test, measure the resistance from each terminal to the earth pin, it must be between 0.8 and 1.2 megohm. Do not open or repair.
