An operator at a rework bench needs a coat that does not interrupt the discharge path across the body and still feels wearable eight hours later. That is what this short-sleeve coat is built for. The fabric weighs 155 g/m², combines compact cotton yarn with polyester and carries 4 % conductive yarn woven through the full surface, and the short sleeves keep the forearms clear at the microscope.
Black earns its place wherever flux residue, thermal paste, toner or lubricant is part of the job. Marks that make a light coat look tired after two days barely register here, so the garment still looks presentable on Thursday when a customer walks the production floor.
Shipping comes from our own warehouse in twelve sizes from 3XS to 6XL, small quantities included.
Your benefits
- 155 g/m² across a full shift: Light enough not to trap heat next to a soldering station, firm enough that the coat hangs cleanly over work clothing instead of flapping against the bench.
- 4 % conductive yarn in the weave: The conductive yarn runs through the whole fabric rather than being applied afterwards, so back, sleeves and front panel behave the same way electrically.
- Short sleeves at the microscope: With no cuff at the wrist, nothing catches on a board, a magnifier lamp or a fume extraction arm, and the wrist strap sits on skin instead of on fabric.
- Concealed press-stud placket: The studs sit behind a fabric flap, so no metal part scrapes across a housing, a display or a populated assembly when the wearer leans over the bench.
- ESD logo on the side pocket: The logo sits on the right side pocket and stays visible during an EPA walkthrough even while the operator remains seated at the workstation.
- Twelve sizes from 3XS to 6XL: A range that covers permanent staff, floaters and agency workers without a special order for the one person who falls outside a standard chart.
- Suitable for industrial laundry: The coat is made for commercial reprocessing. The conductive yarn keeps its conductivity through many wash and wear cycles.
Material and fabric
The coat is made of 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester and 4 % conductive yarn. The cotton side is compact cotton yarn, spun so that few fibre ends stand proud of the surface, which is why it sheds little lint and releases fewer particles near open assemblies. The polyester share holds the shape through repeated laundering and stops shoulders and front panels from distorting. At 155 g/m² the cloth sits in the middle range for work coats.
- 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester, 4 % conductive yarn
- Fabric weight 155 g/m²
- Compact cotton yarn, low lint and low particle release
- Conductive yarn based on silver yarn, produced in our own process
- Less prone to static build-up and odour than all-synthetic fabrics
Construction in detail
Notched lapel collar, one patch chest pocket on the left, two side pockets with slanted openings. The slant is not a styling choice. It keeps probes, tweezers and screwdrivers from tipping out when the wearer sits down at the bench. A sweat guard runs across the neck, shielding the collar from the inside and extending service life where wear normally starts first.
- Notched lapel collar that lies flat when worn open
- Concealed press-stud placket with no exposed metal
- Patch chest pocket on the left
- Two side pockets with slanted openings
- Sweat guard at the neck
- ESD logo on the right side pocket
Lasting dissipation and wash resistance
Measured surface resistance is 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms, tested at STFI in a test climate of 23 ±1 °C and 25 ±5 % relative humidity. That low humidity figure is the interesting part. Dry winter air in a production hall is exactly where weaker fabrics stop working, and this is the condition under which the measurement was taken.
What matters for purchasing is what remains after a year in circulation. The conductive yarn retains its conductivity after repeated washing and wearing, because high-grade silver yarn is processed in a method developed in house. The dissipative effect does not depend on a coating that washes off.
Fit and size range
Available in twelve sizes: 3XS, 2XS, XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL and 6XL. The cut is meant as an overcoat and leaves room for a sweatshirt or tunic underneath without the armhole pulling across the upper arm. The full size chart is available as a PDF in the Downloads tab of this product page.
Why black
Black is the practical answer wherever something stains or greases. At soldering benches with rosin flux, at rework stations with thermal compound, in toner and cartridge handling or in field service work, a black coat still looks orderly after weeks in use. Teams that already run black trousers and shirts also get a consistent look across the department with no extra coordination.

Applications
- Soldering and rework benches with flux and thermal compound
- Placement work and manual touch-up on printed circuit boards
- Test and repair stations in electronics servicing
- Handling of toner, cartridges and lubricated assemblies
- Field service visits where changing clothes between calls is not possible
- Semiconductor and assembly stores with frequent order picking
Care and service life
The coat is suitable for industrial laundry and therefore designed for central commercial reprocessing. The polyester content keeps cut and measurements stable through the cycles, and the conductive yarn keeps its conductivity across many washes. The binding care instructions are printed on the sewn-in label inside the garment.
Finishing and custom versions
The coat takes embroidery and print up to 160 °C, with a sample print recommended beforehand. Company logos, contrast press studs or a contrast pocket are produced on request, as are special colours outside the catalogue range and additional equipment details. Ask us for a quotation.
Standards and testing
The article passed testing for dissipation and surface resistance to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016. The test institute is STFI, and the measured value is 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms at 23 ±1 °C and 25 ±5 % humidity. No testing or certification to further ESD standards has taken place, and none is claimed here.
