On a factory air line the tool changes several times per shift, and the coupling has to release one-handed without venting the whole line. The Nitto Kohki HI Cupla works up to 1.5 MPa, and the shut-off valve inside the socket closes the supply the moment the connection is broken.

On disconnection the valve in the socket closes the supply line. The fluid left in the plug escapes.

Choose HI CUPLA as the general purpose connection between factory air supply and pneumatic tools: at 1.5 MPa {15 kgf/cm2} for the steel and stainless steel bodies it sits in the same pressure class as HI CUPLA 200, FULL BLOW CUPLA, LINE CUPLA 200 and HI CUPLA ACE, while MICRO CUPLA, SMALL CUPLA, COMPACT CUPLA, CUBE CUPLA and SUPER CUPLA stay at 1.0 MPa {10 kgf/cm2}. It is one-way shut-off, so fluid must run from socket to plug; where both sides have to close, COMPACT CUPLA and CUBE CUPLA are the two-way shut-off options, and LEVER LOCK CUPLA is straight through with no valve. Its thread and hose barb sizes from 1/8 inch to 1 inch in steel, brass and stainless steel (SUS304) make it the choice when one coupling type has to serve air and, in brass or stainless steel, water.

Compatibility

Sockets and plugs of sizes 10, 17, 20, 30 and 40 connect with each other regardless of end configuration, and so do sizes 400, 600 and 800, but the two groups cannot be connected across. The series is also interchangeable with Hi Cupla 200, Nut Cupla, Nut Cupla 200 and Line Cupla, and it is not intended for vacuum in either the connected or the disconnected state.

Standards and compliance

End connections use R, Rc and G threads, sealing materials are nitrile rubber (NBR, marked SG) and fluoro rubber (FKM, marked X-100).

Safety and application notes

  • Fluid must run from socket to plug.
  • Note that fluid will come out from the plug when disconnected.
  • Not suitable for vacuum application in either connected or disconnected condition.
  • Above specifications apply only to CUPLA. Maximum working pressure and working temperature range may vary depending on tube materials you use with and the working temperature.
  • When connecting an extremely soft tube such as soft polyurethane or soft nylon, attach the insert ring specified by the tube manufacturer to the inner diameter of the tube to be connected.
  • The operable temperature range depends on the operating conditions.
