Plastic pipes, drains and empty ducts carry no signal that can be measured from the surface. That is the case this package is built for. The Midi Sonde 8/33 with a diameter of 38 mm is pushed into the pipe and followed by the DD120 locator. The sonde transmits on 8 kHz or 33 kHz, the two transmitter frequencies of the DD120, and the instrument reports the depth between 0.3 and 3 m with an accuracy of 10 percent.

Applications

Tracing drains, underground service pipes and plastic pipes in plumbing and pipework, finding pipe routes under yards and cellar floors, checking empty ducts before cables are pulled in, locating house connections ahead of repair work. Passive utility search for power, gas and telecom lines before breaking ground comes on top. The 50 Hz power mode suits mains networks in the European supply area.

Compatibility and scope of delivery

A signal transmitter is not part of the package. For active location of metallic lines the 1 watt DA175 transmitter can be added, which delivers 32.768 (33) kHz and 8.192 (8) kHz in induction mode and therefore uses the same frequencies as the locator. The system carry bag is laid out for locator and transmitter and already holds room for it. The package can also be extended with further sondes from the Leica range.
