Anyone buying workwear for an EPA calculates in cost per wearer and year, not in unit price. What counts is how many industrial laundry cycles a shirt survives before collar and hem lose their shape, and whether a repeat order two years later still delivers the identical version.

The ESD T-shirt with short sleeves in navy answers both questions. The fabric is 96 % cotton and 4 % conductive yarn, spun as combed compact cotton on ring spinning machines. At 150 g/m² it stays comfortable across a full shift, including soldering benches where heat builds up around the operator.

Dissipation sits in the yarn, not in a coating. High-grade silver yarn is processed in a method of our own, and that yarn stays in the fabric, carrying the measured 10⁵ to 10⁸ Ohm through many laundry cycles.

Your benefits

  • Verified surface resistance: 10⁵ to 10⁸ Ohm, measured by the STFI test institute to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 at 23 (+/-1) degrees C and 25 (+/-5) % relative humidity, which is the dry worst case.
  • Conductive rib collar: The collar belongs to the dissipation path and keeps its shape after washing, so the neckline does not ripple and does not get in the way when a hood goes over it.
  • 150 g/m² for a full shift: Combed compact cotton takes up moisture and sheds very little lint, which means fewer particles landing on assemblies at microscope and rework benches.
  • Ring spun and stable in shape: The ring spun structure holds length and cut through repeated industrial laundry, so a set of shirts still fits and still looks the same several years into service.
  • Reactive dyeing: The dye is chemically bonded to the fibre. Navy stays evenly dark over many wash cycles, and pieces ordered later do not stand out against the stock already in circulation.
  • Twelve sizes from 3XS to 6XL: Enough to outfit a whole workforce. From 3XS to 6XL it stays the same version and a single order line, which keeps a framework order easy to calculate.
  • Decoration without detours: Printing up to 160 degrees C and embroidery are available, finishing on request. A sample print beforehand settles logo and position before the production run starts.

Workmanship in detail

The crew neck is finished with a conductive rib collar. Ribbed knit springs back every time the shirt goes on or off, so the neckline still sits close after months in a rotating stock instead of hanging loose. Inside, a neck tape covers the shoulder seam and spreads the pulling forces that occur when the shirt is pulled over the head. The ESD logo sits on the left sleeve, visible to any auditor walking the EPA.

  • Conductive rib collar on a crew neck
  • Neck tape across the shoulder seam
  • Left chest pocket for a test card or a pen
  • ESD logo on the left sleeve

Material and fabric

96 % cotton and 4 % conductive yarn produce a fabric that wears like ordinary cotton. Combed compact cotton means the short fibres were removed before spinning, which leaves the yarn smoother, softer to the touch and far less prone to shedding lint. Cotton also picks up less charge and holds odour less readily than synthetic fabrics, and that difference shows after eight hours on a summer shift.

  • 96 % cotton, 4 % conductive yarn
  • Combed compact cotton, ring spun
  • Fabric weight 150 g/m²
  • Reactive dyed, soft handle

Fit and size range

Twelve sizes from 3XS to 6XL cover apprentices as well as colleagues who need an oversize, without creating a special item for individual people. The measurements for every size are listed in the size chart, available as a PDF in the Downloads tab, so a workforce survey can be prepared without a fitting session. The upper sizes come from the same series and in the same construction as every other size.

Lasting dissipation and wash resistance

Dissipation comes from the conductive yarn woven into the fabric, not from a finish that could wash out. High-grade silver yarn is processed in a method of our own. In practice the shirt is suited to industrial laundry and keeps its conductivity through many wash and wear cycles. For the wash parameters themselves, the care label sewn into the garment applies.

Navy on the shop floor

Navy is a dark, muted blue and has served as a works colour for large numbers of wearers for decades. Across a shift the soiling pattern stays discreet, so the shirt looks in the afternoon much as it did in the morning. Navy also combines with existing works clothing and with almost any work trouser without producing a colour clash. In front of customers and auditors, a team in navy reads as orderly.

Applications

  • Assembly and hand soldering stations in electronics manufacturing
  • Rework and repair on populated printed circuit boards
  • Test and measurement benches with sensitive instruments
  • Semiconductor and assembly stores, order picking inside the EPA
  • Field service work and training areas within an EPA

Care and service life

The shirt is built for industrial laundry. Ring spun yarn and reactive dyeing hold cut and shade over many cycles, and the conductivity of the woven-in yarn remains intact. We deliberately quote no wash temperature, the care label sewn into the garment is the binding reference for the laundry.

Finishing and custom versions

Printing up to 160 degrees C and embroidery are possible, with finishing offered in Germany. A sample print settles logo, size and position before the production run. Equipment and special colours outside the catalogue are available on request, as are sleeves with conductive knitted cuffs, contrast versions and long sleeves with conductive rib cuffs.

Standards and testing

What has been tested is the surface resistance to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016. The STFI test institute recorded values of 10⁵ to 10⁸ Ohm at 23 (+/-1) degrees C and 25 (+/-5) % relative humidity. Other ESD standards form the context around the garment, no test or certification of this shirt against them exists.
