Anyone kitting out a whole hall rarely looks for the most striking garment. They look for the one nobody argues about three years later. That is why cornflower blue has been the works colour for production and assembly for decades. It shows light dust less than black and dark marks less than white, and after the twentieth wash it still looks the way it was specified.

None of that makes the jacket technically modest. 155 g/m² compact cotton yarn blended with polyester, 4 % conductive yarn woven in, a measured surface resistance of 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohm at STFI. It keeps the wearer at the same potential level as floor, footwear and work surface instead of opening a gap in the EPA concept.

The jacket is available in twelve sizes from 3XS to 6XL, cut to the same pattern as the black and the white version.

• Mid tone handles soiling well: Light swarf and paper dust on one side, dark grease and flux marks on the other. Cornflower blue sits between the extremes, so both show less and the garment stays in use longer.
• 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohm, documented at STFI: Tested to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 at 23 ±1 °C and 25 ±5 % humidity. The measured figure is what an EPA audit asks for, and the colour is not.
• Slanted side pockets: The opening follows the natural movement of the hand. At a standing workstation on the placement line, pliers, ID card or gloves are reached without turning the shoulder.
• 4 % conductive yarn, not a coating: The conductive system sits inside the fabric, not on top of it. It cannot be rubbed away and does not fade with the age of a surface treatment.
• 3XS to 6XL from one series: Twelve sizes cover a full shift. From 3XS to 6XL the pattern stays the same, so a whole department can be dressed alike out of one series.

Construction in detail

The lapel collar gives the short sleeve jacket a calm line and lies flat even when it is worn open all day. Closure is a concealed snap placket, quicker than a row of buttons and leaving no metal exposed at the front. A patch chest pocket sits on the left, joined by two slanted side pockets, with a sweat guard worked into the neck.

Fabric and material

The cloth weighs 155 g/m² and consists of 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester and 4 % conductive yarn. Compact cotton yarn is twisted more tightly than conventional ring yarn, so the fabric barely lints. The polyester share holds collar, placket and pocket edges in line, while reactive dyeing preserves the saturation of the blue tone.

Lasting dissipative performance and wash resistance

The conductive yarn makes up 4 % of the fabric and forms a continuous grid inside it. High grade silver yarn is worked in through a process of our own. The jacket goes into industrial laundering with the rest of the workwear and comes back with the same function.

Fit and size range

Twelve sizes are available: 3XS, XXS, XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL and 6XL. For a plant wide rollout that is the practical advantage, because very small and very large staff wear the same model. Collar, placket and pocket layout stay identical across every size. Why cornflower blue

Cornflower blue is the colour of ongoing operations: placement, assembly, goods receiving, maintenance, the test field. It does not read as sterile like white nor as sealed off like black. It simply reads as work. In plants that separate areas by colour it serves as the production base, with white and black covering the special cases.

Care and service life

The jacket is suitable for industrial laundering and runs in the commercial wash pool together with the rest of the workwear. The polyester share secures dimensional stability at collar and placket, while reactive dyeing keeps the blue saturated. Conductivity is retained over many wash cycles.

Finishing and custom versions

Light embroidery threads and white print stand out strongly on cornflower blue. Printable up to 160 °C and suitable for embroidery, with a sample print recommended beforehand. Snap fasteners or a pocket in contrast, extra equipment details and colours outside the catalogue range are arranged on request. Ask us for a quotation.

Standards and testing

Testing for dissipative behaviour and surface resistance to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 was passed successfully at the STFI test institute. The reading is 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohm at 23 ±1 °C room temperature and 25 ±5 % relative humidity. No testing or certification against further ESD standards has taken place.
