People in an EPA rarely all work on the same job. Placement operators, testers, maintenance staff, trainees and escorted visitors share the floor, and who belongs to which group should be readable from ten metres away. Cobalt blue is a strong, clean shade that separates clearly from black and from anything brought in privately.
Technically this is the same garment as the black version. 300 gsm compact cotton with 4 % conductive yarn, conductive rib collar, cuffs and waistband, ESD logo on the left sleeve. The second layer over the T-shirt stays inside the dissipative chain instead of covering it up.
Blue also has a practical side as a works colour. It hides everyday grey soiling better than light shades, and because the yarn is reactively dyed and mercerised the tone still looks deep after repeated laundry rather than washed out.
Your benefits
- A colour that marks a function: Cobalt blue can be assigned to a group such as final test or maintenance and remains easy to tell apart from black across a hall, which saves questions at the EPA entrance.
- Reactive dyeing, colour stable: A saturated blue shows uneven dyeing immediately. Reactively dyed and mercerised yarn keeps depth and lustre through many cycles of industrial laundry.
- 10⁵ to 10⁸ ohms, measured by STFI: Surface resistance was determined to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 at 23 (+/-1) °C and 25 (+/-5) % relative humidity, which is dry test air rather than comfortable conditions.
- Conductive into collar and cuffs: Rib collar, cuffs and waistband are knitted from conductive material. Those are exactly the parts that rest against the neck and the wrist during work.
- 300 gsm instead of an extra jacket: The fabric weight is warm enough for goods-in or an unheated storage aisle, so nobody pulls an untested jacket over the workwear and breaks the grounding path.
- Compact cotton, low linting: 96 % cotton in compact yarn releases far fewer fibres over open assemblies than brushed synthetics and is less prone to odour build-up during a shift.
- 3XS to 6XL from one series: Twelve sizes cover a full team in one shade, so nobody has to switch model. Oversizes run in the same make and the same colour, which keeps a mixed team looking like one series.
Material and fabric
The yarn is compact cotton, ring-spun, at 96 % of the blend with 4 % conductive yarn. Compact spinning ties in the protruding fibre ends, which produces a smoother yarn that lints less and feels softer at the same time. At 300 gsm worn all day, that softness is not a detail anyone overlooks.
The conductive share is high-grade silver yarn processed in an in-house method. It is woven across the full surface. Conductivity is retained after repeated washing and wear, because it is built into the fabric rather than sitting on top of it.
- 96 % cotton, 4 % conductive yarn
- fabric weight 300 gsm
- ring-spun compact cotton yarn
- reactively dyed and mercerised
- low linting, low odour, dimensionally stable
Lasting dissipation and wash resistance
Measured surface resistance lies between 10⁵ and 10⁸ ohms. Testing was carried out by the STFI institute to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 at 23 (+/-1) °C and 25 (+/-5) % relative humidity. That figure carries the argument, because dry winter air in a production hall is exactly the condition in which people and clothing charge up hardest.
For procurement the point is service life. The garment is not only dissipative on delivery, it is meant to stay that way. Since the conductive yarn is part of the weave it cannot be washed out, so circulation through a commercial laundry contract is the intended route rather than an exception.
Construction in detail
A conductive ribbed collar frames the crew neck, backed by a colour-matched neck tape across the shoulder seam. The tape keeps that seam flat and prevents chafing during long spells of overhead work at a machine or inside a control cabinet, where an unfinished seam rubs all shift.
Conductive rib cuffs sit at the wrist and stop the sleeve from sliding forward when someone reaches into a tight card rack. The waistband holds the body of the shirt in place when bending over a bench. The ESD logo on the left sleeve settles the question of EPA clothing during an audit without further discussion.
- conductive ribbed collar at the crew neck
- colour-matched neck tape
- conductive cuffs and conductive waistband
- ESD logo on the left sleeve
- optional chest pocket, side pockets or contrast version
Cobalt blue on the floor
Blue is the traditional works colour and carries no unwanted meaning in a plant. Cobalt is the stronger version of it and fits where one group needs to be visible without the clothing reading as a warning. Typical assignments are final test, maintenance, floaters or a second shift.
Against white the advantage is practical. Dust, hand marks and general wear are less obvious, so garments are swapped out on schedule rather than early. Against black the wearer stays easier to see in poorly lit storage aisles and between high racks.
Fit and size range
Twelve sizes are available, from 3XS to 6XL. A team can be dressed uniformly even where body sizes are far apart, and nobody has to fall back on a different model or a different shade. Oversize pieces come from the same run, so the cobalt shade matches across the team.
The measurement chart is available as a PDF in the Downloads tab of this product page. Since the sweatshirt is worn as a second layer over a T-shirt, a sample piece before a larger order is worth ordering, if only to check sleeve length and shoulder width in real work positions.

Applications
- final test and inspection areas marked off by colour from other staff
- maintenance and service technicians moving between several EPA zones
- placement and assembly work in cooler production halls
- goods-in, semiconductor storage and order picking
- training, onboarding and escorted visitors inside the EPA
- second layer over the ESD T-shirt at soldering and rework benches
Care and service life
The sweatshirt is intended for commercial industrial laundry. Ring-spun yarn and rib knit keep collar, cuffs and hem in shape, and reactive dyeing holds the cobalt tone through many cycles. Conductivity is retained over many wash runs because the conductive yarn is woven in. The sewn-in care label is the binding reference for washing method and temperature.
Finishing and custom versions
The garment can be printed up to 160 °C and embroidered, with a sample print recommended in advance. A contrast version, a chest pocket and side pockets are available on request, and so are colours outside the catalogue range. Tell us how the teams should be marked and we will quote it.
Standards and testing
What is tested is the dissipative behaviour of the fabric. STFI measured surface resistance to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 at 10⁵ to 10⁸ ohms in a climate of 23 (+/-1) °C and 25 (+/-5) % relative humidity. Further ESD standards have not been tested or certified. The sweatshirt is one dissipative element in an EPA concept alongside flooring and footwear.
