Anyone dressing a whole plant rarely looks for a striking colour. Navy has been the standard shade of the shop floor for decades. It matches existing trousers, waistcoats and coats and requires no change in the laundry pool. What this sweat jacket adds is the part standard workwear usually lacks, namely tested dissipation across the panels and every closure.

In practice that means 300 g/m² of compact cotton for cool halls, a zip running the full length to the chin and ribbed cuffs, collar and hem knitted from conductive yarn. The dark shade forgives smears picked up in maintenance and still looks correct at a customer meeting.

Twelve sizes from 3XS to 6XL are held in stock in our own warehouse, with embroidery or printing available on request.

• Twelve sizes from stock: From 3XS to 6XL a complete workforce can be dressed in a single article, including repeat orders for individual sizes during normal operation.

Construction in detail

The zip runs the full length to the chin, so the jacket can be worn open, half closed or fully closed depending on the area. Rib collar, cuffs and hem band are conductive and keep the jacket against the body, which holds the hem down when leaning over a fixture. Two side pockets take small parts, and the ESD logo on the left sleeve stays visible even under a high visibility vest.

Material and fabric

The fabric is 96 % cotton and 4 % conductive yarn at 300 g/m². Compact cotton yarn binds protruding fibre ends into the thread, which keeps lint down and allows a stronger yarn to be spun. For the wearer that means a fabric which is more comfortable over eight hours than heavy synthetics, because cotton takes up moisture and holds less odour.

Reactive dyeing is why navy stays navy instead of drifting towards grey after a year in service. Mercerisation smooths the fibre and gives the surface a slight lustre and a soft hand. Ring spinning is the reason cuffs and hem keep their tension rather than widening after the first dozen laundry cycles.

Lasting dissipation and wash resistance

Conductivity sits in the yarn and not in a finish that washes away. High-grade silver yarn is processed in a method of our own, and conductivity is retained through repeated washing and wear. In a rental laundry pool that is precisely what governs the number of use cycles per garment.

Testing for dissipation and surface resistance followed DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 and was carried out by STFI. The measured values were 10⁵ to 10⁸ ohms at 23 (+/-1) °C and 25 (+/-5) % relative humidity. The low humidity in the test climate is deliberate, since dry air encourages charging. The figure therefore describes the heating season rather than a comfortable summer day.

Navy as the base colour

Navy is the colour nobody has to justify. It looks correct in a customer meeting, unremarkable in the store and neutral enough on the production floor to serve as standard issue for every area, leaving other colours free for special functions. Where toner, grease and flux are in play the dark shade forgives more than light clothing and stretches the interval between washes without the wearer looking untidy.

Care and service life

Suitable for industrial laundering. Compact cotton and ring-spun yarn hold the shape over many cycles, reactive dyeing holds the dark shade, and conductivity is retained through repeated washing. Temperature and programme follow the care label sewn into the garment, and no recommendation of our own is given.

Finishing and custom versions

Light embroidery threads and prints read particularly clearly on navy. Printing is possible up to 160 °C and embroidery in any case, with a sample print in advance recommended. Testing to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 covered dissipation and surface resistance and was performed by STFI. The measured resistance is 10⁵ to 10⁸ ohms and the test climate was 23 (+/-1) °C at 25 (+/-5) % relative humidity. No testing against further ESD standards has been carried out for this article.
