Reworking mould cooling circuits costs time whenever every port has to be screwed and unscrewed. Mold Cupla connects the cooling water line by pushing it home and works at 1.0 MPa working pressure with 1.5 MPa pressure resistance.

• Working pressure of 1.0 MPa with 1.5 MPa pressure resistance, sized for cooling water circuits on dies and moulds.
• One-way shut-off valve in the socket keeps the fluid in the line on disconnection, while the coupled pair passes fluid in either direction.
• NBR seal as standard for -20 °C to +80 °C, FKM available on request for -20 °C to +180 °C, for example for heated oil.
• Brass body stands up to permanent contact with cooling water.
• Compact shape suits moulds with closely spaced coolant ports, and the long sleeve socket still reaches plugs embedded in the mould.
• Defined maximum tightening torque per size: 5 Nm at 1/8 inch, 9 Nm at 1/4 inch and 11 Nm at 3/8 inch.

Series comparison

Choose MOLD CUPLA where a mold coolant or heated oil port has to be connected and disconnected quickly at 1.0 MPa {10 kgf/cm2} with a one-way shut-off valve in the socket, and where the compact body and the long sleeve socket are needed for closely spaced or embedded ports. HOT WATER CUPLA HW Type, the sibling in this group, is rated 2.0 MPa {20 kgf/cm2} with two-way shut-off, so it is the choice above 1.0 MPa {10 kgf/cm2} or when both sides must close on disconnection. Within MOLD CUPLA, the High Flow Type K3 and K4 series give almost double the flow rate of the standard K-01, K-02 and K-03 series but are not interchangeable with them.

Compatibility

Sockets and plugs connect regardless of end configuration and size, and the series also mates with Super Cupla, with the exception of the K3 and K4 types. The series is not suitable for vacuum service, neither in the connected nor in the disconnected condition.

Standards and compliance

Clearance D at an embedded position follows the outer diameter of the socket wrench in use according to JIS B 4636-1 and JIS B 4636-2.

Safety and application notes

• Before use, please be sure to read "Safety Guide" described at the end of this book and "Instruction Sheet" that comes with the products.
• Not suitable for vacuum application in either connected or disconnected condition.
• Do not exceed the maximum tightening torque given for each thread size.
• Please use braided hoses available in the market; braided hoses for SN type should be made of soft PVC and woven by reinforcement thread.
• Socket interference prevents connection/disconnection when the embedment dimension C exceeds 3 mm.
