On machines and test rigs, lines are disconnected and reconnected several times a day. The Multi Cupla series from Nitto Kohki covers that job with 120 versions in brass, steel or stainless steel, each available as a socket and as the matching plug.

• Bodies in brass, steel or stainless steel (SUS), so the coupling suits the environment at the installation point.
• Seals in NBR or FKM, which lets the material pairing be matched to the medium being carried.
• Every socket has a plug of the same size, for example MALC-4S and MALC-4P, which keeps spare part stocking simple.
• Sizes 01, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 within the same model line, so different port sizes stay inside one coupling system.

Operating principle

• MALC-01 Type: Solo use of socket is possible.
• MALC-01 Type: As in the case of MULTI CUPLA MALC-SP type and MALC-HSP type, the distance between the socket plate and the plug plate is designed to be 30 mm when connected. This means MULTI CUPLA MALC-01 type can also be installed mixed with any size of MALC-SP type and MALC-HSP type on the same plate.
• MALC-01 Type: An axial eccentricity allowance of 2 mm eliminates precise centering at installation.
• MALC-01 Type: Compact size with thread screw mount and with flange types available.
• MALC-01 Type: Suitable for operation of ejector pins to open/close valve gates in molding.
• MALC-SP Type: Compared with conventional MULTI CUPLA, approximately double flow rates are realized. This could reduce the size of required plates. (Rate of flow increase depends on CUPLA sizes.)
• MALC-SP Type: The MALC type realizes a 2 mm axial eccentricity allowance, while conventional MULTI CUPLA is only 0.6 mm.
• MALC-SP Type: Special valve design enables connection of socket and plug under pressure of up to 2 MPa. (up to 1.5 MPa for MALC-12SP.)

Series comparison

MULTI CUPLA MALC is the choice as soon as the pressure class exceeds what the other MULTI CUPLA plates cover: MAM Type ends at 0.7 MPa {7 kgf/cm2}, MAM-A Type and MAM-B Type at 1.0 MPa {10 kgf/cm2} and MAS Type / MAT Type at 7.0 MPa {71 kgf/cm2}, while MALC-SP Type covers 1.5 to 7.0 MPa {15 to 71 kgf/cm2} and MALC-HSP Type 21.0 to 25.0 MPa {214 to 255 kgf/cm2}. Within the range MALC-SP Type and MALC-HSP Type shut off on both sides with spill reduction, so they fit lines where outflow of fluid and air admixture matter, whereas MALC-01 Type at 1.0 MPa {10 kgf/cm2} is one-way shut-off like MAM Type. A further reason for MALC is mixed assembly: the 30 mm plate distance is the same for all three sub-types and all sizes, so one plate can carry different sizes and pressure classes.

Safety and application notes

• MALC-01 Type: socket and plug or plate must be used in contact with each other. Maximum 0.5 mm distance between socket and plug or plate is acceptable.
• MALC-SP Type and MALC-HSP Type: plug and socket must be used in contact with each other. Maximum 0.5 mm distance between socket and plug is acceptable.
• For solo use of the MALC-01 socket, the angle of inclination between the socket and the counterpart must be within 0.5 degrees.
• Maintain the connection with the minimum load or more, but not more than the maximum acceptable load. For MALC-01 Type the maximum acceptable load is 500 N {51 kgf}.
