Quick connect coupling SP-A Cupla 2S-A, stainless steel - Nitto Kohki 345240210
€49.59
The Nitto Kohki SP-A Cupla joins water, oil, chemical and compressed air lines by hand and holds working pressures from 1.5 to 7.5 MPa (15 to 76 kgf/cm2). Its two-way shut-off closes plug and socket separately on disconnection, so the media stays inside the line.
- Two-way shut-off closes plug and socket independently, and on sizes 1SP-A to 8SP-A the self-aligned valve head returns cleanly into its seat
- Working pressure of 1.5 to 7.5 MPa (15 to 76 kgf/cm2) for water, hydraulic oil, chemicals, air and gas
- Flow volume increased by 7 to 64 percent compared with the conventional SP Cupla of the same size
- Three seal materials cover -40 to +180 °C: NBR from -20 to +80 °C, FKM from -20 to +180 °C, EPDM from -40 to +150 °C
- Body available in brass, nickel-plated steel or stainless steel SUS304, with flow characteristics that stay identical across all body materials
- Low media loss: a 1SP-A releases only 0.4 mL per disconnection and admits 0.6 mL of air when connected

Operating principle
- Automatic shut-off valves in both socket and plug prevent fluid spill out on disconnection.
- Available in various standard body materials, sizes and end configurations to cope with diversified applications and operating situations.
- Plugs with male thread end are also available.
- New self-aligned valve design provides better seal: the new design of the valve head makes smooth self-aligned return to its original position when socket and plug are disconnected. This mechanism enhances safety sealing of individual socket or plug when disconnected (1 to 8SP-A Type).
- Fluid flow can be bi-directional when socket and plug are connected.
Series comparison
| Series | Max working pressure | Size range | Valve structure | Applicable fluids |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TSP CUPLA Socket with Ball Valve | 10 bar | 1/4 inch to 1 inch | One-way shut-off | Water, Hydraulic oil, Air, Gas |
| ZEROSPILL CUPLA | 36 bar | 1/4 inch, 3/8 inch, 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch, 1 inch (thread) | Two-way shut-off (Spill Reduction) | Water, Hydraulic oil, Chemicals, Air, Gas |
| TSP CUPLA | 75 bar | 1/8 inch to 2 inch (thread and hose) | Straight through | Water, Hydraulic oil, Chemicals, Air, Gas, Steam |
| SP CUPLA Type A | 75 bar | 1/8 inch to 2 inch | Two-way shut-off | Water, Hydraulic oil, Chemicals, Air, Gas, Steam |
Choose SP CUPLA Type A when a line in the 1.5 to 7.5 MPa {15 to 76 kgf/cm2} range has to shut off on both sides as it is disconnected. TSP CUPLA covers the same pressure range but is straight through and does not shut off, and TSP CUPLA Socket with Ball Valve is one-way shut-off and limited to 1.0 MPa {10 kgf/cm2}. ZEROSPILL CUPLA is also two-way shut-off and additionally reduces spillage, but it stops at 3.5 MPa {35 kgf/cm2}.

Applications
- Cooling water circuits on machine tools and injection moulds with frequent tool changes
- Hydraulic lines in the medium pressure range up to 7.5 MPa
- Compressed air and gas lines on assembly and test benches
- Chemical lines that call for FKM or EPDM seals and a stainless steel SUS304 body
- Vacuum duty down to 1.3 x 10-1 Pa (1 x 10-3 mmHg), operational in the connected state
Compatibility
SP-A couplings of the same size are interchangeable with the conventional SP Cupla, while different sizes cannot be mated with each other. Connection to SP-V Cupla is possible, in which case the differing flow rate has to be taken into account. Once coupled, fluid may flow in either direction, from the plug side or from the socket side.
Standards and compliance
The steel body is nickel-plated and complies with RoHS requirements, the stainless steel version uses SUS304.
Safety and application notes
- Before use, please be sure to read the Safety Guide described at the end of the catalogue and the Instruction Sheet that comes with the products.
- Depending on the temperature of steam / hot water, the heat may damage seal materials.
